Today we celebrated Chief Deputy Recorder Tracie Russell on her 15 years of service to Kankakee County. Tracie has been a constant representative of great customer service to anyone who comes into the Recorders Office. Kankakee County Clerk Dan Hendrickson and I hosted a joint meeting with County Clerks and Recorder’s from Zone 3 and Zone 4 today. Visit Kankakee Angelina Gear gave a great welcome to our group followed by our Zone 3 President Laurie Lee from Clark County conducting the business meeting. We then heard from a representative from the Secretary of State Records Archivist on retention followed by Illinois State Board of Elections about the 2027 Consolidated Election. It was a great morning and both Dan and I were proud to welcome our peers to Kankakee County

CELEBRATE JUNETEENTH: June 19th marks the oldest known holiday commemorating the end of slavery in America. The monument in this photo depicts the day in Galveston, Texas when Major General Gordon Granger arrived with news of the abolition of slavery more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

County offices will be closed tomorrow, June 19th. We look forward to seeing you on Monday, June 22nd!
