The Juneteenth holiday was celebrated with a parade marching from downtown Kankakee to Pioneer Park followed by food and fireworks on Saturday. Though fun and games were a central part of the festivities, the celebration was about more than just entertainment.

It’s a beautiful day for the Kankakee Juneteenth parade and celebration. Be sure to visit the Kankakee County Democrats tent. ❤️🤍💙 Our president, Charlene Tagoe Eads will be registering people to vote one booth down.📝You can also update your voter registration card too. 🥰

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and serves as a powerful reminder of resilience, progress, and the continued pursuit of equity and justice. We are honored to stand together in unity and celebration. ❤️🤍💙

🕙 Lineup begins at 9:30 am and the parade kick off is at 10:00 am

🎉The parade ends at Pioneer Park, where we will hang out at the Dems tent till about 3 pm. Bring a lawn chair or use one of the foldable chairs. 🎉
