Wednesday, August 5, he's on the floor at the KCK Youth Basketball Academy at Kensington Gymnasium with KCK kids, ages 8 to 14, who are willing to work hard.

For our scholar-athletes, this is more than a visit. It's a day with someone Bill Self himself points to when he wants to teach his own guys what work really is.

Info below about the Small Business grant opportunity from the UG.

Discover UG funding opportunities available to help small businesses thrive. Join the UG Economic Development Department, in partnership with Visit KCK, to learn more about $250,000 in grant funding available to small businesses in Kansas City, Kansas, including eligibility requirements, application details, and how these resources can support your growth.

The goal of this program is to increase the number of small businesses in Kansas City, KS, support growth in the downtown corridor, and revitalize our legacy urban areas. The Unified Government will provide grants of up to $10,000 to qualified applicants.

Eligible uses of funds include:

Renovation costs (sheetrock, flooring, painting, etc.)
Facade improvements (painting, ceiling, etc.)
Inventory costs
Equipment costs
Marketing expenses (web page, signage, etc.)
Bars and establishments that sell alcohol with less than 50% in food sales (state and federal license required)

Excited to see more progress happening in downtown KCK.

After sitting blighted for years, the former UMB Bank tower in downtown Kansas City, Kansas, is set for a major transformation as part of a broader push to revitalize the area.

The seven-story, 100-year-old building will be converted into Build WyCo's new headquarters and apartments, including both market-rate and affordable units.
