James Elementary

James Elementary James Elementary is a neighborhood school in the Kansas City Public Schools. James Elementary School is over a century old and is deeply rooted in tradition.

The school was named for J. Crawford James, a school board member from 1894 to 1912. Many former James students still reside in Kansas City and often, when former students come to town to visit, they stop by the school. James is focused on high academic achievement and outfitted with the latest 21st century technological classroom tools to bring interactive lessons to life. James has over 15 activ

e partnerships with local civic business, and agencies. It is the school's mission to get our students on the road to a successful and productive life. To that end, every child will visit a college during the school year as they aim high towards attending college in their future.

With a welcoming, inclusive culture and a big focus on curiosity, James students get hands-on science lab time every week from K–6. That means experiments, discovery, and plenty of “whoa!” moments.

Our 5th graders had an unforgettable day at Kauffman Stadium thanks to our partnership with the Royals' Literacy League. From touring the ballpark to meeting World Series champion Salvador Perez, it was a field trip full of inspiration, learning, and big-league memories.
A huge thank-you to the Royals organization, the Literacy League team, parent volunteers, and everyone who helped make this experience possible for our students!
