📣 For this week's Four Corners Community Call we stopped by the Express Stop (Phillips 66) at 4815 Independence Avenue—right across from Northeast Middle School.

🏫 Students are officially back in the classrooms! It’s fantastic seeing the energy back on the block. Drive carefully and watch out for kids crossing near the middle school during pickup and drop-off times.

✌🏾 A huge shoutout to the Independence Ave CID Titan Security team. They’ve been out in full force keeping the corridor safe, welcoming, and secure for students, business owners, and neighbors alike.

⛽ Convenience stores like Express Stop keep our neighborhood moving. Drop in, grab a snack, and say hello to the friendly staff working hard to serve our community daily.

🤝 Thank you to everyone working together to keep the Historic Northeast vibrant, safe, and connected. What positive changes or local businesses have you noticed around the neighborhood lately?

WORK HARD. PLAY HARD. 💪🛝

Our Urban Street Ambassador Team puts in some serious work along Independence Avenue. From early mornings and hot days to trash, illegal dumping, overgrown lots, alleyways, storefronts, and all the unexpected things the Ave throws their way—they keep showing up and getting it done.

But even the hardest-working crew deserves a little time to play! 😂

If you see these guys out and about, give them a shout-out, a wave, a honk, or simply tell them THANK YOU. A little appreciation goes a long way for the people doing the behind-the-scenes work every single day to make our community cleaner and better.

We appreciate this crew and everything they bring to the Avenue. 💜

The Sights: Kessler Park, Cliff Drive, Pendleton Heights, Scarritt Renaissance, Concourse Park & the Kansas City Museum

The Adventure: Hike Kessler Park trails, check out an abandoned reservoir, and conquer the ~140 steps up to Concourse Park

Today, our flags fly at half-mast in honor of a woman whose greatness reached far beyond the stage. 🇺🇸💔

And because there is simply no proper way to honor Dolly Parton without a little sparkle, we’re adding some extra bling to our attire today. ✨💎

Dolly showed the world that you could come from humble beginnings and still dream BIG. She gave us unforgettable music, plenty of sass, a whole lot of rhinestones—and, more importantly, a lifetime of kindness and generosity. Her commitment to giving back, lifting others up, and never forgetting where she came from made her every bit as beautiful on the inside as the larger-than-life woman we all knew and loved.

So today, the flags are lowered, but the sparkle is turned all the way up.

In true Dolly fashion, wear something shiny, add a little extra bling, tease that hair a little higher, and help us celebrate a woman who made this world a brighter place simply by being in it. 🧡✨
