Please congratulate Angelina Vitale. She is an official qualifier to the National Speech and Debate Tournament held this June in Richmond Virginia. Message from Park Hill Trojans Baseball Head Coach:

On Monday, we opened district play with a 4-2 win over Park Hill South. We had previously lost twice to South, by a 2-1 score. Owen Gutierrez was 3-4 with a stolen base. Cailen Bradford was 2-4 and Bryson Augustyn was 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI's. Bryson collected his 100th varsity hit, joining Caelin as the only two Trojans to ever accomplish this. Ian Springer once again dominated on the mound, scattering 7 hits over 6 1/3 innings striking out 9 and walking 1. Bryson came in and got the save in the 7th.

Last night we upset #1 in the state Liberty with a 5-4 win in 9 innings. Logan Conley started and gave us 4 quality innings, giving up 3 runs. Bryson Augustyn came in, in the 5th inning and gave us 5 innings of 3 hit baseball giving up only 1 run. He also went 3-4 at the plate including a game tying solo home run in the top of the 7th inning. Lex Young was 2-4 with a triple. Logan Conley was 2-5 with the game winning hit in the 9th. Chi Smith was 2-4 as well. Noah Vance, Joe Martorana, Owen Gutierrez also collected a hit. In total we out hit the Blue Jays 12-7. It was a gritty performance by our Trojans.

On Friday we will play Staley in the District Championship at 5:00 at Liberty North. The kids would love to see as much support as possible cheering them on. This will be our first district championship game since 2010. We, by far have the toughest district in the state with Liberty, Liberty North, and Staley all ranked 1,2,and 3 in Missouri class 6 baseball. We previously beat Staley 7-6 earlier in the season and also got past Liberty North 3-0. It should be an awesome atmosphere for high school baseball on Friday night. We have a very gritty and resilient group of players this year that play hard and play together. Please wish them well if you see them. Hope to see you all Friday night.

Message from Park Hill High School Girls Soccer Head Coach:

The girls are currently 15-2 and have won 12 straight matches. We beat PHS last night for the third time this season in a thrilling 3-2 comeback win. We trailed 2-1 before battling back to finish it off. It was an awesome environment, helped by a student section that brought a ton of energy, especially the baseball team.
The girl's soccer team will play Staley Friday at 6:00 PM at PHS for the district championship. If you are not heading to baseball, we would love to have you come out and support the girls.

Thanks,
Jason Pendleton

Last week, we played well but lost to Liberty 5-2. We drew first blood when Carter Lovitt and Drew Miller won at #1 doubles. Liberty put their #1 guy (odds on state champion contender) at #2 doubles and we were a bit outmatched at that court. #3 doubles was as close as they come. We trailed early, rallied back to take the lead, but ultimately lost in a tiebreaker. We trailed 2-1 after doubles.

In singles, we lost the first set on 5 of the 6 courts. Liberty is incredibly strong at #1 and #2 and though we played well, we could not put much up on the score card. The freshmen in the middle of our lineup have been a real strength and #4 Lane Marshall notched our second victory after losing the first set. #3 Alex Kalis was on his way to victory (had match point actually when the match was called). #5 Cody Phan also fought back and ended 4-4 in the second set and was playing well. #6 Bond Pasley had a lead early in the first set, but couldn't hang on.

Ultimately, these boys deserve a lot of credit. They played their hearts out and we just got beat by a better team. We end the season at 14-6 with a couple of regular season tournament trophy's and two state qualifying doubles teams.

Next Up: Drew/Carter and Alex/Lane will play in the MSHSAA State Doubles Championships in Springfield, MO next week (May 14-15).

Thanks for support of Trojan Tennis!

Coach Reys, Brinkmeyer & Kalis

Doubles:
#1 Drew Miller & Carter Lovitt W 8-4
#2 Alex Kalis & Lane Marshall L 2-8
#3 Cody Phan & Bond Pasley L 8-9

Singles:
#1 Miller L 1-6, 2-6
#2 Lovitt L 1-6, 0-6
#3 Kalis DNF 6-2, 5-4

#5 Phan DNF 1-6, 4-4
#6 Pasley L 4-6, 1-6

If you see these students, please congratulate them on all their hardwork this season! ❤️🤍

I am proud to announce the Kansas City Cappies nominations that our theatre students received for their excellent work on our fall musical, “Freaky Friday,” the spring play, “Play On!” and as part of the Cappies Critics Team this year. The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a national program through which high school theatre and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, and write reviews, which are then submitted for evaluation by adult mentors.

The awards will be presented at the Cappies Gala on Saturday, May 23rd at the Folly Theatre. Tickets are $17 in advance and $22 at the door (everyone INCLUDING those nominated must purchase tickets). The website to purchase tickets is https://orders.follytheater.org/ChooseSeats/33201
