Did you know that May, June and July are the months when su***de rates are often at their highest?

While summer is often associated with fun and relaxation, changes in routine, increased isolation and fewer opportunities for regular connection can make this season especially difficult for some people.

That's why checking in matters. A simple text, phone call or invitation can make a meaningful difference. Pay attention to signs such as withdrawal, irritability or changes in behavior among friends, family members and loved ones.

For National Foster Care Month, we’re proud to spotlight foster parent Atheah. 💙

“To me, KVC isn’t just an organization. It has been a lifeline.”

Atheah has seen firsthand what it means to never walk alone in foster care. Through every challenge, every late night call and every moment of uncertainty, she has found support, guidance and a team that truly shows up.

But her impact does not stop there.

When a new foster parent felt overwhelmed and unsure, Atheah stepped in with encouragement, late night check-ins and a reminder that even on the hardest days, showing up matters.

That support changed everything.

Because sometimes making a difference is not loud. It is quiet, steady and life changing. It is helping someone believe they are strong enough to keep going.
