Project Eagle

Project Eagle At Project Eagle, we envision a community where children's futures are determined by their interests and dreams - not by their circumstances.

We respond to the particular needs of the community's youngest and most vulnerable children and their families. Through research-based programming and instructional support that develops early skills and nurtures the parent-child relationship, Project EAGLE staff provide a foundation for school readiness and strengthen family engagement. This week, members of our Project Eagle/Educare Kansas City community, including leadership team members, teachers, and parents, traveled to Tulsa for the Educare Network’s Catalyst 26 National Summit alongside early childhood leaders from across the country.

Throughout the week, we were reminded that meaningful change for children and families starts with strong relationships, supportive communities, and people willing to invest in the future of early childhood education.

One of the highlights of the week was the opportunity to visit Educare Tulsa and experience the incredible work happening in their classrooms and school community firsthand.

We left feeling inspired and hopeful about the impact of early childhood education. During the closing session, Harvard economist Dr. Raj Chetty shared research showing how high-quality early childhood experiences can shape lifelong success, opportunity, and stronger communities.

We are proud to be part of the Educare Network and grateful for a week filled with learning, connection, and inspiration. 💙

Creativity, curiosity, and hands-on learning are part of everyday life in Project Eagle classrooms!

From creating paper mâché globes during Earth Week to exploring science through slime-making activities, our teachers work hard to create engaging learning experiences that encourage children to ask questions, problem solve, explore new ideas, and express their creativity.

These types of projects do so much more than keep children entertained. They help build language skills, teamwork, fine motor development, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

We are so thankful for the creativity and dedication our teachers bring to the classroom each and every day!

A huge thank you to PNC for their continued support of Project Eagle and the children and families we serve!

This week, PNC stopped by Project Eagle with backpacks filled with learning materials and supplies for our students, along with additional classroom resources as a way to show appreciation for our teachers and staff.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of the program and for the many ways PNC continues to invest in early childhood education. Their generosity and continued partnership help create meaningful opportunities for the children and families we serve throughout our community.

Thank you, PNC, for helping our youngest learners grow and thrive.

Project Eagle currently has six active classroom projects posted through DonorsChoose, and we would love your support!

These projects were created by our teachers to help provide hands-on learning opportunities that encourage creativity, exploration, dramatic play, outdoor learning, social-emotional growth, and problem solving for the children we serve each day.

From outdoor exploration tools and mud kitchen supplies to dramatic play materials, sensory items, and classroom resources that support communication and teamwork, each project was designed to help create engaging learning experiences for our students.

At Project Eagle, we know children learn best when they can explore, imagine, create, and actively participate in the world around them. These projects help make that possible.

If you would like to support our classrooms and help bring these projects to life, please visit our DonorsChoose page here:

A huge thank you to the volunteers from Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) at the University of Kansas Medical Center for spending time at Project Eagle yesterday supporting our children, classrooms, and outdoor spaces!

The group helped clean up our gardens and playground areas, collect trash, and assist teachers both inside the classrooms and outdoors with the children. Their willingness to jump in wherever needed made a meaningful impact across our campus.

We also want to recognize Ms. Felicia for leading this monthly effort and for her commitment to supporting families through garden education and fresh food access. Families had the opportunity to receive seedlings, seeds, and information to help start their own home gardens.

Because Project Eagle serves families in an area with limited access to fresh produce, opportunities like this help encourage healthy habits and hands-on learning beyond the classroom.

Thank you again to SPA leadership, the Social Committee, and every volunteer who spent part of their day serving our children and families!

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering with Project Eagle, please contact Kara Thompson at [email protected] for more information about volunteer opportunities.

We loved welcoming a very special guest into our Head Start classrooms!

High school junior and Girl Scout, Jaya Bhoot, stopped by to share an engaging and interactive presentation all about dental health. From learning how teeth help us eat, talk, and smile to understanding when and how to brush, our students were all in and ready to show off those big smiles 😄

Each student also went home with a goodie bag filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and helpful information to keep the learning going at home.

Thank you, Jaya, for using your time and talents to make a difference in our classrooms. We are so proud to see young leaders giving back in meaningful ways!

We have a great opportunity to support one of our classrooms right now!

Ms. Sarah at Project Eagle is raising funds for a project called Fun with Music and Rhythm, helping students explore music, patterns, and creativity through hands-on learning.

Right now, every dollar donated is being matched, meaning your gift goes twice as far.

Just $135 will fully fund this project during the match.

If you’ve been looking for a quick and meaningful way to support our kids, this is it.

Help me give my students music and rhythm toys to learn more about music and patterns together as a group! My students love exploring music and rhythm. We've learned about music using rhythm st...
