Bethel Neighborhood Center

Bethel Neighborhood Center We are a nonprofit started in 1911. Our mission is to offer hope to all to achieve self-sufficiency. We run after school and summer programs for grades 1-12.

Bethel Neighborhood Center (BNC) has been serving people of all ages -- from infants to senior adults in the Kansas City, Kansas community for 112 years, since 1911. It has a history of serving newly immigrated or migrated people groups to the Kansas City community who consist primarily of economically challenged and underserved families and individuals. We serve the community through meals, food

pantry, health, educational, sewing training, and recreational programs to promote physical and social wellness. Since early 1920s, BNC has been recognized as a United Way agency. Since 1971, BNC has been recognized as a nutrition site by Area Agency on Aging of Wyandotte County. In 2020, we served more than 23,000 individuals, and in 2021, more 13,000 through our food pantry. Homework help, social skills, conflict resolution, community service, and college readiness are some of the things we do with our children and youth.

Preparations for the upcoming Summer Youth Enrichment Program are proceeding smoothly, with most grade enrollments closed and classes prepared. A memorable kickoff event was held yesterday, setting the tone for the program. We are grateful for the trust parents have shown in our program. The summer program will commence from June 8th and conclude on July 31st focusing on a theme, “DON’T QUIT: KEEP GROWING.”

We acknowledge with gratitude the support of FBC Olathe, who have provided again delicious lunches and fun activities.

Gordon is representing us at One World Wyandotte inside Memorial Hall. The event is from 3-7 PM. Thank you, Gordon.

End of School Year Highlight:

We are delighted to spotlight Mr. Zazai, a cherished friend whose sweet family we have had the honor of partnering with over the past few months, as he proudly showcases his children's impressive school achievements. This, right here, is exactly why we do what we do at Bethel!

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE MEN’S BREAKFAST MEETING TOMORROW AT 10 AM. AT BETHEL NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER. Mr. Elliot Omarson will be our guest speaker.

Mr. Omanson was honored recently as one of the Ambassadors for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation. He entered the Financial business after serving in the US Army. During that time, he watched his two younger brothers build their career as Investment Advisors. Being able to capitalize on their experiences allowed him to identify early on what kind of firm he wanted to be a part of.

Earning his Series 7, 66 and Life and Health licenses and joining Sage Financial Inc. as an Independent Investment Advisor Representative gave him the opportunity to learn from a family that brought the values he was looking for to the financial investment business.

That foundation continues to be the foundation upon which everything he does today rests.
Serving in the Military, and helping people in war torn countries, truly gave him a sense of pride. Knowing he was able to help people in such circumstances, brought a level of enjoyment to his work he did not feel he would ever experience again. Serving as an Investment Advisor Representative has continued to allow him the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.

He purchased Sage Financial Inc. and re-branded the company to OWLFI. They have moved locations and expanded. They launched OWLFI Tax and Accounting and OWLFI Insurance. They have partnered with the Law Offices of DD Clark. His company has in house professionals of legal, tax, insurance, and Medicare specialty's all in an effort to better serve their clients.

Through it all they continue to hold to the values and ethics the Sharp family brought to Sage Financial and will continue to do so regardless of how they grow.

Please join us if you are interested. A delicious breakfast and a wonderful speaker is waiting for you!
