Pitcher Elementary

Pitcher Elementary Pitcher Elementary is a neighborhood school located on the east side of Kansas City that educates Pre K- 6th grade. Go Eagles! 🦅

Pitcher Elementary School is the most eastern school in the Kansas City Public Schools. The building was built in 1989 with desegregation funds. It was built to accommodate the Classical Greek Theme with an Olympic size pool, track, and field. The school is named for Thomas Pitcher, a landowner and one of Jackson County’s earliest sheriffs, who deeded a log-cabin school to the county superintenden

t of schools in 1860. In 2010 the staff and students from West Rock Creek Elementary merged with Pitcher. We have students enrolled from a vast variety of cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds. It is the only site in the district that houses the Specific Language Impairment Classes formally know as Delayed Language.

We are so excited to announce Principal Davis as our incoming principal!!!!

After extensive and meaningful collaboration with our community, families and staff, Kansas City Public Schools is proud to announce Ms. Kelsey Davis as the new Principal of Pitcher Elementary School!

Principal Davis has a long and loyal history with KCPS, beginning as a classroom teacher at Pitcher. She credits that experience as grounding her in the culture, traditions and vision that make the school an exceptional piece of the Kansas City Public Schools family.

She has served as the school’s Vice Principal for the last three years, earning recognition as Kansas City Region’s Assistant Principal of the Year, and most recently serving as Interim Principal of Pitcher this past school year, allowing her to support the community through multiple leadership roles.

“My work at Pitcher has given me extensive knowledge of our team-based model where we utilize multiple educators to support student success,” Principal Davis said. “I believe deeply in the power of shared expertise and a collaborative culture. And I am committed to strengthening these practices as we continue moving forward.”

Principal Davis earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Missouri, a Master’s Degree in Language & Literacy from Park University, and an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership.

She is excited to continue strengthening Pitcher’s school community through collaboration, growth, and student success. And we are excited for her to continue being a wonderful resource for our students, staff and families!
