Franklin Center The buzzing hub of our neighborhood (East Argentine)!!! Soon to be a restored community center once again!!!

The Franklin Center is an old school building that was deeded to the community by the school district in the late '70's for $5000. The interior at that time was in very poor condition. The community came together and brought the old building back to life. About 5 years ago a couple of the pillars that were responsible for the building retired and handed it off to some folks that dropped the ball.

Eventually the building was abandoned and left to vandals and scrappers. The community refuses to let the building die and is working hard to bring it back to life! The vision is that the Franklin Center will once again be the buzzing hub of our neighborhood, enlivening it with thoughtful spaces, people, and organizations that make us want to live in the Argentine neighborhood more than anywhere else in the world.

Friends, we again regret to announce that we will NOT be having Food Distribution at the Franklin Center Wednesday, February 12. If you need food assistance, we recommend going to Immanuel Community Outreach or the Hub Argentine next Tuesday!

Vecinos, desafortunadamente no va a haber despensa de comida mañana con tanta nieve en el prognostico. Les recomiendo ir a la iglesia Immanuel o the Hub Argentine el martes si le falta comida. Nos vemos el 12 de marzo. Cuídense mucho!

Due to the poor street conditions, cold temps and travel difficulties for our food suppliers, we regret to announce that we will NOT be having Food Distribution at the Franklin Center Wednesday, Jan 8th. Vecinos, desafortunadamente no va a haber despensa de comida mañana. El camión va a tener dificultades por entrar en estas condiciones y va a estar bien frío para todos quienes nos apoyan en surtir. There will be no food distribution tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 8th due to the icey/snowy streets and cold temps. We will see you in Feb.

No emergency at Franklin Center today. The fire fighters who courageously worked saving the building this summer were doing training exercises and forgot to give notice. Thanks for the concern :-)

The Harvesters Mobile Food Distribution is still on for next Wednesday, June 14. Parking lot opens at 1:00 and the food is distributed from 2-4. The line forms up the 14th st hill. Want to avoid a longer wait? Come by at 1:10 to get a time to return.

La distribución de Harvesters de comida es la próxima Miércoles, 14 de junio. El estacionamiento abre a la 1:00 y repartimos comida a las 2 a 4. La fila de carros se forma en la calle/loma de 14th st. Quieres esperar menos tiempo? Pase a la 1:10 para un ticket con el tiempo de regresar.
