Wyandotte County Infant Toddler Services

Wyandotte County Infant Toddler Services WyCo Infant Toddler Services is a Tiny-K program providing early intervention services (birth-3) to children and families in Wyandotte County, KS.

Why are Infant Toddler Services Important? Starting with a partnership between parents and professionals at this early stage helps the child, family and community as a whole. This partnership may assist with:
*enhancing capacities of families to meet the needs of their child;
*assisting infants and toddlers to attain age-appropriate developmental levels;
* maximizing the significant development

that occurs during a child’s first three years of life;
*reducing feelings of isolation, stress and frustration that families may experience;
*reducing long-term educational costs to society by minimizing the need for special education and related services at school age; and
*helping children grow up to become productive, independent individuals. Who is eligible? Families from Wyandotte County with infants or toddlers (from birth to three years of age) who have developmental delays/disabilities are entitled to early intervention services. Eligibility
for services is determined using parent
report, clinical opinion, and evaluation and assessment measures. Our local Infant-Toddler tiny-k program can assess:
Physical: Including motor, sensory, health,
nutrition, vision and hearing
Cognitive: Problem solving
Communication: Language Social/Emotional/Behavior
Adaptive/Self-help

Is this program for you and your child? Your family will work with a team to define your priorities, to learn about resources available to you and to discuss your child’s strengths and needs. You and your team will identify what you want for your child and how everyone will work together to achieve your family goals. Early intervention services must be provided in your natural environment (home and community settings where your child lives and plays).

Neural Nugget: Between 0–3 years old, a child’s brain forms over 1 million neural connections per second. This time in life is the most pivotal, and also the most vulnerable for brain development. Early experiences shape cognitive development in early childhood.

We’ve made the science of baby brain development accessible for all. The Baby Brain Map is your interactive guide to early brain science. Start exploring now and help lay the foundation for healthy growth: https://bit.ly/4w3j4jg

Neural Nugget: Babies who are talked to frequently know about 300 more words by age 2 than babies who hear fewer words, giving them a stronger foundation for language and learning.

One of the best ways to support healthy brain development is through serve-and-return interactions: the back-and-forth of talking, playing, making faces, and responding to your baby's sounds and cues. These everyday moments help build the brain, one interaction at a time.

Curious about what's happening inside your baby's brain? Explore our Baby Brain Map, an interactive guide that makes the science of early brain development easy to understand and put into practice: https://bit.ly/4w3j4jg

Over the past nearly three years, the KC F.A.R.M.E.R.S. Coalition has focused on bringing our community together to support farmers and ranchers, strengthening our regional food system, and creating collective impact that addresses the changing needs of our agricultural community. That work isn't ending—it's evolving.

As our current USDA-funded project wraps up this September, KC Farm School, Kansas City Black Urban Growers (KC BUGs), and our Coalition backbone partners are planning the Coalition's next chapter. We want to make sure it's shaped by the people who have helped build it.

Whether you're a Coalition member, attended one of our work-and-learn events, or partnered with us along the way, we'd love for you to complete our anonymous survey.

Your feedback will help us understand what's working, what our community needs most, and how the KC F.A.R.M.E.R.S. Coalition can continue growing long after this initial grant has ended.

Coalition Members: Complete the survey and earn an additional $50 with your next quarterly member stipend distribution.
