Love is like a plant—it grows with care and patience. Just as a seed needs nurturing to thrive, love flourishes when both people tend to it with kindness and commitment 📸 Shelby-Lynn Studios

We can’t believe it’s been five years since we began this journey with our greenhouse. The plants, the restoration, and best of all sharing our inspiration with so many different people. 📸 Shelby-Lynn Studios

There’s something beautiful about watching families, slow down and freeze time in our greenhouse. We look forward to all the memories that will be captured this Spring 📸 Jesse Salter Photography

John’s Greenhouse

We are the proud new owners of this historic greenhouse built in Brookside, Kansas City. This special landmark is one of a kind and we feel honored to call it our home.

Kansas City is full of interesting history, particularly in the Brookside area. Originally surrounded by an apple and pecan orchard, this unique greenhouse was built in 1909. It was in 1954 that the attached house was built by John and Alberta Overby, where they raised their 2 daughters, Roberta and Mary. John’s Greenhouse sold mainly tropical, succulent and cactus plants across the region. In more recent years, the family sold plants on a retail basis to people in the area. Roberta was known to sit outside the greenhouse to greet her guests and share stories with those that wandered in. We have been approached by people sharing their stories with us. There are many that remember visiting the greenhouse as a child with their parents to buy a special plant...in the 1950’s and 1960’s!

We are currently working hard to restore and update the property. If you are interested in visiting John’s Greenhouse, we are by appointment only. Please feel free to send us a private message or send us an email at [email protected].

May the plants be with you!
