🌟 Day 4 of ESY is in the books, and Week 1 of community outings is officially wrapped! 🌟

We had another absolutely fantastic day of learning, exploring, and growing. Here is a look at what our amazing students and staff were up to today:

🤸‍♂️ Mercury Gymnastics: A huge shout out to Mercury Gymnastics for hosting us again! Our students had a blast wrapping up our community outings for the week.

🏦 First National Bank at the Legends: Our KS PREP students visited the team at First National Bank for a super informative presentation. They learned all about checking, savings, loans, and the ins and outs of banking—and had a great time doing it! Thank you for investing in our students' financial literacy! (Check them out here: https://www.firststateks.com/locations/legends)

☕ Classroom 31 Coffee Station: How could we forget?! Classroom 31 officially launched their Cold Coffee Brew Station today! They are working hard and raising funds for an amazing cause: Abilities KC! Be sure to get your caffeine fix and support our students!

👮‍♂️ Special Thanks: A big thank you to our School Resource Officer, Dave Mitchell, who stopped by and kept Classrooms 22 and 27 busy and engaged today. We love our community partners!

⚽ Preschool World Cup: Our youngest learners continued to hone their Argentina soccer skills today. The energy and teamwork on the field were unmatched!

🏫 Domain Rotations: All of our other classes stayed busy rotating through their core domains, working hard on:

Day 3 of KSSB’s Extended School Year is a wrap, and our students are absolutely crushing it here in Kansas City! ☀️🏫💪

For "Get Your Kicks in 2026," our focus is all about pushing limits, building independence, and trying new things. Today, these amazing students worked incredibly hard across all of our ECC domains—from mastering independent living skills and leveling up their assistive tech, to navigating the community with orientation and mobility.

Every single milestone deserves to be celebrated. These kids are showing up, putting in the work, and having a blast doing it!

We are so proud of their dedication. Bring on Day 4! 🛣️✨

☀️ Day 2 of ESY is in the books, and the energy is unmatched! ☀️Our students have been absolute rockstars navigating their daily rotations. Every day, they are working hard, trying new things, and building incredible skills across all of our core domains. From mastering independent living in ADL (Activities of Daily Living) to getting creative in the Makerspace, fine-tuning communication in Social Skills, utilizing Assistive Technology (AT), and staying active in Rec & Leisure—our classrooms are buzzing with growth and learning! 💻🎨🏆

Speaking of staying active... we want to give a massive SHOUTOUT to Mercury Gymnastics (https://www.mercurygymnastics.com/)! 🤸‍♂️✨ They are hosting our students for Community Outings this week, and we are so incredibly grateful for their support and partnership in giving our kids such a fun, active, and welcoming environment to explore.

But that's not all! The hard work doesn't stop with our rotations: Our KS PREP Program and Project SEARCH have been incredibly busy diving straight into their schedules and working hard on their programs every single day! 💼👏

And our amazing Preschool crew got to cool off and hit the pool today! 🏊‍♂️☀️We are so proud of every single one of our students and staff for making Day 2 a massive success. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings! 🎒🌟

Kickin’ off ESY 2026! 👟✨

Day ONE of Get Your Kicks is officially in the books, and wow, what a wonderful start! Today was all about getting to know each other, mastering our new schedules, and organizing our week for success. 📝🗓️

The big question of the evening: Who is more exhausted… the teachers or the students?! 😴

It was a super fun, high-energy day, and we are so excited for the rest of the week. Time to get some rest and do it all again tomorrow! 🎒❤️

⚽️ Kicking Off ESY 2026! ⚽️
The wait is officially over! Today, we welcomed most of our amazing Extended Day (Dorm) students from all across Kansas as they moved in and settled. The energy on campus is already incredible, and we can’t wait to welcome the rest of our students when our programs officially begin tomorrow, (Monday) morning at 8:00 AM!

MOOD: School’s OUT for summer! 🌞

Thank you to every person who made it an incredible year: from our F.I.T. team who serve the littlest learners, to the dedicated professionals in our Early Childhood, Instructional, Dorm and Related Services on-campus team, to the Field Service travelers working with students and districts throughout the state, to the resource providers, custodians, IT, administrators, maintainance staff, and countless partners who help us do the work.
