The inaugural Brave United Conference brought together public safety foundation leaders from across the country to share ideas, strengthen partnerships and learn from one another.

Beth Phelps and PFKC Board Chair Carolyn Watley attended on behalf of the Police Foundation of Kansas City, joining conversations on board governance, fundraising, grants, wellness initiatives and effective foundation leadership.

They returned to Kansas City with new connections, practical ideas and a renewed commitment to supporting KCPD with innovative tools, training and resources. The conference also affirmed something worth celebrating: PFKC has earned a strong reputation among its peers for helping bring state-of-the-art resources to the women and men who serve Kansas City.

That’s how Police Foundation of Kansas City Board Member Mark Jorgenson described Kansas City’s FIFA World Cup experience at our recent debrief luncheon.

Safety and security were the #1 priority from the start. Chief Stacey Graves shared that KCPD’s goal was simple: wherever people were in Kansas City, they should be able to look around and see an officer nearby, visible, approachable, and ready to help

The result: visible, engaged officers, positive interactions, and visitors who said Kansas City “felt like home.”
