📱 Important Update for Piper Families
Beginning this school year, Kansas House Bill 2299 establishes new statewide requirements concerning student use of personal electronic devices during the school day and direct social media communication between school employees and students.
Students’ personal electronic communication devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, and gaming devices—must be turned off and securely stored in an inaccessible location during the school day. Limited exceptions may apply for qualifying medical needs, IEPs, or Section 504 plans.
The law also requires official school-related communication between employees and students to take place through district-approved platforms. Our official social media pages will continue sharing public announcements, schedules, celebrations, and district news.
Families who need to reach a student during the school day should contact the school office. Students will also have access to a school-designated communication method when needed.
