I'll start with the BONUS phrase to practice for Summer:
Hot and humid day/ nulëmëlànte (noo-luh-muh-LUND-ay)
This lesson is a review for many of you with several of my favorites. The Lenape/English match-up word quiz w/answers is also a review, as is the Lenape prayer from the heart, so don't worry about memorizing it as written, but visit the LTD-Lesson #12- Lenape Prayers if you're so inclined.

The flyer below describes the Smithsonian exhibit currently at the Wyandotte County History Museum until July 5, 2026. Gather family and tour the exhibit as well as the Museum’s own Native American Traditions and Cultures of Wyandotte County featuring exhibits from both the Kansas Delaware Tribe and the Wyandot Tribe of Kansas through July 5, 2026.

Hè! Alënixsitàm! [Hello! Let's talk Lenape!]
March is shad fish month, a cultural reference from our ancestors, if ever there was one. Shad fish are anadromous, meaning they have a life cycle in both freshwater & saltwater. *They would swim up the major rivers by the millions in March and April to spawn in freshwater streams. Abundant fish enabled the Lenape to congregate in larger numbers than usual AND to remain at one site for a longer time. *delawaretribe.org
Reminder: Visit the (Special Consonant Combinations) section of Lesson #3 at www.talk-lenape.org. These combinations will have an underscore and notation when used in our lessons. Vowels will be underlined IF they are not the usual next-to-last stressed vowel in a word. Wanìshi for your time & interest!

Hè! Alënixsitàm! (ah-luh-nee-SEE-tum)Let's talk Lenape! First up, Consonants (Southern Unami dialect): ch-h-k-l-m-n-p-s-sh-t-w-x-y.
Of these, ch-k-p-s-sh-t are pronounced as in
English (with some exceptions). This may be new to many of you; simply refreshers to others. Hope it helps, whichever level of learning you're at.
