The Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team

The Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team "It was their duty to serve..It is our duty to remember. A hero remembered...never dies"
(1)

When a line-of-duty-death occurs, and once the agency that sustained the loss requests help, the Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team responds. The team serves in a behind the scene capacity and offers suggestions based on what the needs of the department are as well as those of the families. The team will not self respond, and the priority is always on caring for the fallen officer's family.

It’s definitely a little different with it not being Police Week, but still needed to stop and see our heroes that were honored this year. Lt. Eddie Mays, Bernie Police Department, EOW 06/05/2025 and Officer Henry Franklin, Sikeston Department of Public Safety, EOW 10/06/2025

We took a few moments to visit this hero today.

On Thursday several members of the team attended and participated in the 2026 Southwest Missouri Peace Officers Memorial Service in Springfield. Team members Josh Steele and Mindy Shook were invited to read the names, on behalf of the team, of the fallen heroes from 2025. We are honored to continue honoring our fallen at memorial services near and far.

We are honored to once again receive the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Guidestar/Candid. This is the third year in a row that we have received this honored distinction. To achieve this highest level of the Seal of Transparency, we provide an in-depth look at what we do, how we do it, how much it costs us, and what we spend that money on. This allows grantees and donors to see that we are good stewards of the money we receive and that we comply with IRS requirements for non-profit organizations. We appreciate Candid for this service and for giving YOU, our donors and supporters, the comfort of knowing that your generous contributions are being used wisely. If you wish to support our mission of Honoring Heroes, you can donate through our website, www.mopolicefuneral.org, or contact a member of our Team Leadership.
