Join us in showing support for all those currently deployed. It’s a simple gesture that carries a powerful message; we remember you, we honor you, and we’re praying for their safe return.

As we keep all service members in our prayers, we also ask for extra prayers for Councilmember Lewallen’s daughter and Councilmember Loya’s granddaughter. Senior Airman Loya is currently serving in the Middle East as part of Operation Epic Fury, please keep her and all those serving alongside her in your thoughts.

We stand with the Pleasanton Police Department as they mourn the loss of Captain Smitty Gonzales. His service, leadership, and dedication will be remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and his law enforcement family during this difficult time. Captain Gonzales also served with the Karnes City Police Department in 2007. Though his time here was brief, the impact he made was lasting and meaningful.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Captain, Smitty Gonzales. Captain Gonzales was more than a leader, he was a mentor, a friend, and a dedicated professional who was always there for anyone in need.

Throughout his career, Captain Gonzales exemplified integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. He inspired those around him through his leadership, his sense of humor, and his genuine care for others. His impact will be felt not only by our officers but also the community he served for the past 15 years. We are eternally grateful that we had the privilege of serving alongside Captain Gonzales.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. During this difficult time, we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Captain Gonzales’ legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the officers he mentored, and the community he faithfully served.

Rest easy, Captain. We have the watch from here.
