Members of the KVFD and the Kenedy Police Department have come together to support one of our own during a difficult time.

We will be hosting a BBQ Benefit Plate Sale, with 100% of the proceeds going toward Fernando Martinez’s medical expenses as he continues his battle with cancer.

Fernando is also a valued part of the Kenedy Police Department family. He retired from the Kenedy Police Department in 2021 after dedicating 20 years to serving and protecting our community.💙

Every plate purchased, donation made, and kind gesture will make a difference.

When: September 19, 2026
Where: Kenedy Volunteer Fire Station 118 N 3rd st.
Time: Pickup 11A-2P
Plate: $14- Chicken and Sausage, Rice, Beans, Bread, BBQ Sauce

Sending a 📣 Thank You Shout Out📣 to United Rentals - Karnes City for graciously donating the use of one of their manlifts so that we could get the trim and wording repainted on the front of our station! Thank you guys!

During our routine practice session this past Monday, we were honored with a visit from Retired County Judge Alfred Pawelek. He took us for a stroll down memory lane recalling his tradition of providing a meal for our department annually in February during our business meetings. He also recounted a story about his friend, the late Tommy Bednorz, who once offered his assistance without accepting payment. Judge Pawelek noted that Tommy continued to assist him in preparing our annual meal every year thereafter. In memory of Tommy, Judge Pawelek presented each of our members and the department with a memorable gift. We extend our sincere gratitude to Judge Pawelek! Rest in Peace Tommy 🙏 ❤️ ( Charlie Malik, James Cantu, Joe Medrando, Aaron J. Rosales, Frankie Serna)
