Get your First Aid / CPR / AED Certification through Tlingit & Haida's Vocational Training & Resource Center (VTRC)!

These courses will provide individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

Upon completion, students will receive a VTRC certification and American Red Cross certification valid for two (2) years. All courses are open to the general public.

Tlingit & Haida Repatriations: Ch’aak Shadaak’wat S’aaxw (Eagle Helmet)

A warrior of the Dog Salmon Clan had this made for use in battle to honor his fathers’ emblem. This helmet was said to have been used in battle in Sitka in 1802 – 1804 against the Russians and even earlier battles dating back to the 1700’s. In the second photo William Nelson Sr. (Tahín, Gastáa) of the L’eeneidí Clan wears the Eagle Helmet. The helmet was rarely worn and when it was it required previous preparation and fasting beforehand, even then, it is a sensitive act and a great honor.
