Unless there is a physical barrier between your vehicle and the bus, you must stop for loading/unloading.

Our Fort Bend ISD school buses have returned to the roadways! Here's what you can do to be ready for the first few days of school, please take a moment to review our School Bus Safety Tips for Motorists.

🚌 Be alert and watch for children, especially near schools, bus stops, school buses, and in school parking lots.
🚌 Children on bicycles can make sudden direction changes. Be especially careful when children are present in school zones and residential areas.
🚌 Pay extra attention to lower speed limits in school zones.
🚌 Watch for and obey signals from school crossing guards.
🚌 Only drive or park in authorized areas to drop off or pick up children at school.
🚌 Please be patient with bus drivers and fellow parents. Traffic, road construction, and new routes and routines may cause delays.
🚌 Motorists are required to stop when approaching a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing and STOP arms extended (see the different situations in the diagram.)

8/7 1530 UPDATE-Services for Deputy Chris Schuh: The viewing will be held this Friday (8/9) evening at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg from 5-8 pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 10 am at First Colony Church of Christ, 2140 First Colony Blvd, Sugar Land, TX.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Deputy Christopher Schuh. Chris passed away this morning after courageously fighting cancer, surrounded by his family at home.

Chris dedicated over 29 years to serving in Texas law enforcement, with the last 10 years spent with Fort Bend County. Schuh also served with the Richmond Police Department, Rosenberg Police, and Alief ISD PD.

He will be greatly missed.

The new school year is almost here! Fort Bend ISD returns this week and other districts across our area start next week. We’re proud to support school staff in every way we can.

Every year before school starts, James Patterson, a respected former County Commissioner, Teacher, Coach, and Principal, graciously offers lunch to the dedicated teachers at the school bearing his name. My Chief Deputy and I are always happy to assist and enjoy his mouthwatering homemade potato salad in the process.

Update: Falcon Ranch is scheduled for Wednesday. Kelliwood, Cinco Ranch and Grand Lakes is ongoing, as well. Thank you, Commissioner Vincent Morales, for the information.

Please see the listed debris collection schedule. We’re aware the Katy-area has yet to be scheduled. Constable Chad Norvell has inquired with OEM and we will pass on their response when we receive it.

Fort Bend County Hazmat Response is enroute to Hwy 36 / Lake St in Orchard for an oil storage tank fire. Multiple fire departments are on scene.

Fire is producing a large column of black smoke. Air quality will be monitored for public safety.

This crew is working in the pouring rain along FM 1093 between Weston Lakes and Simonton. A motorist stopped and was screaming at the linemen about her power being out. These guys told a deputy they’re all local and don’t have power at their own homes. It is frustrating to be without power, but interrupting the workers isn’t going to make it come on faster.

We appreciate these men and thank them for their hard work and dedication.

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following
counties, Fort Bend and Harris.

* WHEN...Until 415 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 211 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.

Hundreds of signs were knocked down by the hurricane yesterday. Fort Bend County Road & Bridge is understandably very busy and we appreciate their hard work. If you are in the unincorporated area of the county and see a sign down, please submit this request rather than trying to call it in. They will prioritize and repair, when available.
