Losing is never a part of our plan, but as Paul wrote to the early church in Rome, “we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” Romans 8:28
I owe a huge debt of gratitude, first and foremost, to Kathy and Bennett. They have been my absolute rock throughout this season. They’ve both sacrificed more than anyone on the outside looking in will ever fully understand, and they’ve done it with a servant’s heart and a desire to help others.
Thank you to everyone who voted, encouraged, and supported me along the way. We fell just 32 votes short, and I will always be grateful to the many people who put their trust in me. It has been such a blessing to meet and get to know so many amazing people throughout my time in public service.
This campaign gave me so many stories and experiences I will cherish forever. I always set out to show up in a way that made you proud to support me, and as I reflect on our campaign, I believe that is how it was conducted. In one of the noisiest and most negative campaign seasons I can remember, I will never regret staying unquestionably positive.
As one campaign season ends, another begins. City elections are coming up in May, followed by runoffs. Then I hope you will join me in November when I cast my ballot for a very good man for Waller County Commissioner. I did not know Brian Cantrell before this race, but as I have gotten to know him and his family, I know that he, too, has a servant’s heart and the desire to do good in our community. I wish him and his family all the best.
Thank you again,
Dan
