Let's continue thanking our Katy ISD Board members for their service to our District for School Board Appreciation Month! Get to know Board member, Dawn Champagne!
Today we honor and celebrate the life, legacy, and leadership of Martin Luther King Jr. On Friday, West Memorial Elementary had a school-wide silent peace walk while the "I Have a Dream" speech was played over the speakers. A powerful lesson for our youngest students!
Calling all interested Katy ISD parents! We are looking for parent volunteers to serve on a virtual committee to review and select instructional materials for several new secondary courses for the 2021-2022 school year. Congratulations to the Katy Tigers football team on winning the State Championship! We know you've worked hard to earn that trophy!
If you plan on attending the parent-organized celebration parade along highway 90 this evening please be sure to:
- Adhere to road signs and City of Katy ordinances
- Park prior to celebrating and only in safe, designated areas
- Follow all COVID-19 safety protocols (social distancing, masks, etc.)
Also, unless you are picking-up a football player, the Katy High School parking lot and grounds are not open to the public. Please do not park here for the parade.
Go Tigers! Today, Katy High School Football competes in the 6A DII State Championship against Cedar Hill at 1p.m. Check out photos from the send-off this week and the graphic from Dave Campbell's Texas Football on the matchup.
Have a great 3 day weekend, Katy ISD! As a reminder, the District will be closed Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of MLK Day.
Friday Fast Fact: Why a bond now? Why not rezone?
Demographers project Katy ISD will reach nearly 100,000 students by 2026. Rezoning the District now would only result in another Districtwide rezoning within the next few years. New campus bond projects being assessed by the CBAC would provide enrollment relief to campuses over capacity and help balance enrollment. Let's cheer for our cheerleaders! Congratulations to Seven Lakes High School Cheer for winning the Conference 6A-D1 UIL State Spirit Championship! Way to go, Spartans!
Other Katy ISD teams also earned Top 10 spots at the UIL Spirit State Championships: in 6A-D1 Mayde Creek earned 5th place and Cinco Ranch won 7th; and in their inaugural year, Jordan High School scored 5th in 5A-DII. We are so proud of each of you; your hard work has paid off!
Miller Career and Technology Courses offer real world, hands-on learning opportunities - like this video! Students in the Miller Film Academy produced and shot this campus promo video FOR CLASS CREDIT. How cool is that? Great work students! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWQGbM3capo

Ensuring all Katy ISD students have access to the most up-to-date technology in their classrooms is a critical part of education in this day and age. Hear from Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) member teacher, and parent, Rachel Tate, on why technology is an important topic during the CBAC meetings.
Thank you to the Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) for a great first meeting tonight! Teachers, parents, community members, business owners and others came through with the tough questions and in-depth discussions on district growth, finances, safety/security, future building needs and more. We’ll see you all again next week!
Around 30 Cardiff Junior High teachers, admins, office staff, classroom paraprofessionals, and support staff have volunteered to form the #CardiffConnection mentor program. Mentors meet with a CJH student at least once per week to be a listening ear, an encourager, and to help troubleshoot school and life’s challenges. These staff members have recognized the need to provide extra encouragement and support during this unusual year. We are overwhelmed with pride at the care and dedication of our educators.
