Wreaths Across America Saturday December 19 2020 at 10 AM at Katy Magnolia Cemetery. It RAINED! We managed to finish the ceremony but laying the wreaths on every veteran's grave was a muddy mess! But we got it done.
Thank you so much to all the volunteers, JROTC, Naval Cadet Corps, Taylor HS FFA, NCL, Cub Scouts and the members of the public who came out to support and lay wreaths. Thank you to Nora Britton for the photos and Tony Garza for the National Anthem, to our speakers and distinguished guests and most especially to our American Legion Post 164 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 164 for all their hard work.
See you next year!

Our Story

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. Hundreds of local American Legion programs and activities strengthen the nation one community at a time. An individual is eligible for membership in The American Legion only if the individual:

  • Has served in the Armed Forces of the United States at any time during the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918; or any time after December 7, 1941 through to the present day;

  • or a government associated with the United States Government during a period or time referred to above and was a citizen of the United States when the individual entered that service;

  • was honorably discharged or separated from that service or continues to serve honorably during or after that period or time.

    American Legion Post 164 JSSP Committee Meeting. Committee Meeting of the JSSP Committee called for Wednesday May 29th 7 pm. At the West Memorial Clubhouse 22415 Kingsland Blvd The purpose will be to review the complete agenda and begin to address as many topics as can be addressed in the time permitted. I would like to propose that we hold a raffle of JSSP related equipment to help raise money for our effort. Things like what to raffle, who is our target, when will the raffle occur, how much will the tickets be, how many tickets to be printed etc. We could raffle a Crosman Challenger 2009S, a very popular air rifle used in the 3 Position Rifle Matches. Cost would be 565.00. This would need further confirmation once if we decide to go ahead with raffle. The raffle could be another way to introduce the Post 164 JSSP program to others. Please plan to attend and bring any other members that may be interested in this program. Hope to see all of you at the meeting tomorrow night and more importantly on Wednesday May 29th. There is much to be done. Thanks, Richard
