Our Public Works crews are busy responding to the City’s drainage infrastructure due to the rain event we are experiencing today. Rain is expected for the next few days and the City needs your help too!

- Leaves, litter or other debris can easily clog storm drains which can lead to localized flooding. If you see that debris is blocking a storm drain - use a dustpan, shovel or a trash can lid to remove debris from the top of the drain. Gloves are recommended. Safely place all debris into a plastic garbage bag and discard.

- Do not place any loose garbage bags, bags of lawn clippings, branches or limbs near the sidewalk or curb that could float away if water gets above curb level.

- Try not to park in the street, but if you need to, please try not to park in front of any curbs inlets.

Please call Public Works at 281-391-4820 or email us at [email protected] for any drainage concerns.

❗️DON'T FORGET❗️

The City of Katy Water Department will be flushing hydrants starting today Thursday, September 30th and October 1st. The hydrant flushing will take place between 7 am. and 4 pm. The flushing may cause low water pressure as well as some discoloration of water, but this does not represent a health hazard. If you experience discolored water, run the cold water in all your faucets for approximately 5-10 minutes or open the outside faucet closest to your water meter for several minutes before using the water. However, customers are cautioned to determine if the water is clear before washing clothes (or any other processing) as staining may occur.

Note: If laundry becomes stained, do not put laundry in the dryer. Rewash clothes immediately using detergent and add a rust remover. Most rust removers can also be used on stained fixtures. If water pressure or water volume seems to be low after hydrant flushing has been completed, check faucet screens (aerator) for trapped particles/sediment.

The City of Katy cannot be responsible for any damages incurred as a result of this activity. The flushing program is necessary to maintain a good water supply for both firefighting and domestic consumption which is a necessary and normal maintenance function of our water supply as required by the Department of Environmental Protection.

09/29/2021

The City of Katy Public Works Department will be providing Quarterly Limb Pick Up the first full week of October. Please have your limbs out by 7AM on Monday, October 4th. The Public Works crews will drive each street until the City has been covered. Keep in mind that due to the volume of limbs, pick up may take more than one day but all limbs must be out by October 4th.

In order for the City to provide this type of service, it is important that the tree limbs be cut and trimmed to the following requirements:

Tree limbs have to be 2 inches to 6 inches in diameter.
Tree limbs have to be at least 6 feet in length and no longer than 12 feet.
Limbs should be placed in your yard, by the curb and NOT in the street/roadway prior to the first day of pickup.
Limbs should also NOT be placed by any water meter, gas meter or hydrant.
Tree limbs that do not meet the above requirements will not be picked up. Additionally, The City will NOT pick up household garbage, furniture, scrap metal, appliances, automotive parts, debris, rubbish, building materials, etc.

Other Pick Up Options:

Any commercial tree service or any contractors cutting brush or trees shall be required to pick up and haul off their own limbs.

For large tree trunks and stove wood length, call G.O. Weiss Landfill at 281-492-2558.

Texas Pride will pick up brush less than 2 inches in diameter if it is tied in bundles, is no longer than 4 feet in length and must be less than 40 pounds in weight, provided they are placed at the residence curb on regular garbage collection day.
