Pupdate! from Sandia & Mango (now Katie & Gracie) adopter:

“It's been two weeks since we brought Sandia (now Katie) and Mango (now Gracie) home. They're doing amazing!

They are the sweetest girls who love to snuggle and have made friends with everyone they've met so far. We are so grateful to have them join our family and are excited for all the adventures to come.”

Thank you for the update and for being patient with these two kiddos!

Enrichment Friday with KTX Fit -Katy was a blast!

We joined forces with amazing volunteers at Mary Jo Peckham Park, where our dogs got to stretch their legs—some running, others enjoying a leisurely walk.

A huge thank-you to KTX Fit and their incredible team for helping us give our dogs a much-needed break from the shelter and a joyful day at the park!

Please checkout this helpful information below about finding baby kittens!

As the weather warms up, kitten season has officially arrived and we’re already feeling the impact. Just yesterday, five separate litters of kittens were brought into the shelter.

We know people mean well and want to help. It’s natural to feel concerned when you see tiny kittens alone outside, but bringing them to the shelter right away can sometimes do more harm than good. In many cases, their mother is nearby, just waiting for things to quiet down so she can return.

Removing kittens too soon can put them at risk. If you find a litter, please take a moment to pause and assess the situation before stepping in. We’re simply asking the community to wait, watch, and only intervene if you’re absolutely sure there’s no mom coming back!

We’ve created a guide to help you know what to do and when it’s time to step in. Visit our website to learn more: http://www.houstontx.gov/barc/helpful_links.html
