The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Katy until 12:15 PM.

You can help keep the City’s drainage infrastructure clear by taking these actions: Please do not park in the street blocking the drainage areas.
Do not place yard debris in drainage areas.
Keep trash debris out of gutters and drains.

Water can back up and cause ponding that slows or stops drainage and can even flood yards and homes.

If you come across high water, don’t attempt to drive through it. Turn Around, Don't Drown. Driving into high standing water could also cause a wake that might push water into homes.

CITY HALL AND MUNICIPAL COURT WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO THE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS.

We cannot stress enough how dangerous this winter storm may become this evening. We urge everyone that does not have an absolute need to travel to STAY HOME and off the roads. Before going out, be sure to check road conditions at https://buff.ly/3tNXakV.

Protect the Four 'P's: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants: Keep warm by dressing in layers and check on your elderly family and neighbors. Bring your pets inside! Bring plants inside or cover them. Cover pipes and drip faucets to prevent them from freezing.

WATER OUTAGE: If you are experiencing broken or leaking pipes at your home, turn your water off at your personal shut-off valve. Your shut-off valve is typically located near your water heater. If you are unable to turn off your personal shut-off valve, call our Public Works Department at 281-391-4820 and a water technician will come out and turn the water off at the meter.

POWER OUTAGE: If you experience a power outage, you can utilize CenterPoint Energy’s Outage Center at https://buff.ly/3rTwFJ3. Brrrrr! 🥶❄️ It looks like we have the potential for a winter storm late this weekend into early next week. Now is a good time to prepare and to Protect the Four 'P's: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants!

Additionally, you should also practice fire safety. If you are using a space heater, place it on a level, hard surface and keep flammable objects at least 3 feet away. Turn off your space heaters before you go to bed. Do not use fuel-burning devices such as grills, they release deadly carbon monoxide.

We are closely monitoring the storm for any changes in the forecast. Follow this page and our City of Katy Office of Emergency Management page for local weather updates. Sign up for alerts at www.cityofkaty.com/KTAlerts
