On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom. This historic day has become a symbol of freedom, resilience, and hope.
The City of Kaufman joins communities across the country in recognizing this important day and celebrating the values of freedom, unity, and progress that continue to shape our nation.
In observance of Juneteenth, City offices will be closed today. Emergency services will remain available to serve the community.
