Deputy Gutierrez and Corporal Snow recently visited the East Texas A&M Law Enforcement Training Academy, where they had the opportunity to speak with cadets about career opportunities with the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office.

During their visit, they shared information about deputy positions, answered questions about the profession, and discussed what it means to serve the citizens of Kaufman County.

We value our partnerships with law enforcement academies and look forward to continuing to recruit dedicated men and women who are ready to begin a rewarding career in law enforcement. Training Notice

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office will be conducting Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) today at 200 Easley Parkway, Mabank, Texas.

ALERRT is nationally recognized, research-based training that prepares law enforcement officers to respond effectively to active attacks and other critical incidents. The training includes realistic emergency response scenarios designed to improve coordination, decision-making, and life-saving tactics.

Residents and visitors can expect an increased law enforcement presence in the area throughout the day. This is only a training exercise, and there is no threat to the public. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our deputies continue to enhance their skills to better serve and protect our community.

K-9 Rocket faithfully served the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office from June 2017 until his retirement in October 2023. Throughout his distinguished career, Rocket exemplified courage, loyalty, and unwavering dedication, protecting his fellow deputies and the citizens of Kaufman County with honor.
Following his retirement, Rocket remained where he belonged with his handler, Deputy Kevin Shaw, and his family, enjoying the well-earned retirement he deserved after years of faithful service.
On July 22, 2026, K-9 Rocket's watch came to an end. Though his final patrol is over, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the partners he protected, and the community he served.
Today, we honor not only an exceptional police K-9, but also a trusted partner, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office family. May we always remember Rocket's faithful service, his sacrifice, and the unconditional devotion he gave each and every day.
