Kaw City Volunteer Fire Department we have three paramedics, one advanced, and four basic EMT’s.

2026 - (77) 28 EMS, 9 investigation, 9 brush fire, 8 cancelled, 7 stand by, 5 MVC, 3 well person check, 3 weather, 2 false alarm, 1 assist, 1 oil field fire, 1 search The Kaw City Volunteer Fire Department is an all volunteer department with 18 members providing medical first response and fire suppression to 400 permanent and 850 seasonal residents over 55 square miles in northeast Kay County and

northwest Osage County. With an ISO Fire Protection Classification of 5 the Kaw City Fire Department is dedicated to providing numerous public service projects to the residents and visitors of the Kaw Lake Recreational Area and the headquarters to the Kaw Nation of Oklahoma.

You may have noticed the fire hydrants in Kaw City have been painted and that some of the hydrants look different. That is because fire hydrants may flow different gallons per minute due to their location along a water line or the size of line feeding the hydrant.

These three hydrants pictured are from different locations around the city and shows the different colors and what those colors mean. We here in Kaw City have 53 hydrants with the vast majority of those hydrants flowing at the upper end of yellow and green.

The Kaw City Volunteer Fire Department has taken delivery of a Genesis battery powered combo cutter-spreader tool. 100% of the funding was generously donated by the Denis Leary Foundation. Having life saving tool such as this will have a long lasting impact on the community we serve.

These organization cannot be thanked enough for the donations to volunteer fire departments across the country.
