Due to the approaching Tropical Storm Lala, Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site will close at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The park will remain closed Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16.

Please do not enter the park while the closure is in effect. Continue to monitor official weather information and follow guidance from local emergency management officials.

EVENT CANCELLED

Due to the approaching Tropical Storm Lala, the 54th Annual Hoʻokuʻikahi Hawaiian Cultural Festival has been cancelled. The festival was scheduled for this weekend at Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site.

This weekend!

Hoʻokuʻikahi i Puʻukoholā is this Saturday and Sunday! Join us August 15 and 16 for a weekend celebrating the history, culture, and traditions of Puʻukoholā.

This year's theme is Mālama Kō Aloha ("Keep your love").

The celebration begins with opening ceremonies at Puʻukoholā Heiau at sunrise on Saturday morning. These will be followed by music, hula, cultural demonstrations, hands-on activities, and more at Spencer Park at ʻŌhaiʻula Beach throughout the weekend.

This free event is sponsored by the National Park Service, Hawaiʻi Pacific Parks Association, and Nā Aikane o Puʻukoholā Heiau.

We can't wait to celebrate with you!

We spent the weekend enjoying live music and learning about the history and significance of the Hawaiian flag. We hope everyone had a great time, whether you stopped by to learn something new, explore the Keiki Corner, or add a Hawaiian flag decal to your favorite adventure gear.

On July 31–August 2, join us at Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site for a three-day celebration of Lā Hae Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Flag Day).

Enjoy live music, cultural demonstrations, hands-on activities, and special presentations exploring the history and significance of the Hawaiian flag.

Friday, July 31 (10 a.m.–2 p.m.)
• Hawaiian flag raising ceremony at 12 p.m. (bring your own pū!)
• Bring a blank T-shirt or tote bag to create a commemorative print
• Live music and cultural demonstrations
