IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

Our petitions were successful, and there are positions on the ballot for the November Election.

Endorsed candidates will be announced soon, along with more information about the upcoming election.

Bay County has certified recall petitions against Treasurer Laurie DeShano and trustees Charles Campbell and Brian Whalen. The recalls stem from controversies over meeting minutes and improper use of work email for township business.

THANK YOU to anyone who offered their signatures, time, and energy to our cause! The signatures have officially been submitted!

We will do our best to keep this moving forward, and give more information as it becomes available- including informing everyone of each step in the process. For now, we are incredibly happy to have made our deadline; we will be awaiting approval and next steps from the County Clerk (hopefully) very soon.

Thank you again for YOUR participation in this effort!!

A Just government provides real transparency. There is no room for elected officials to hide things from the public they serve. Avoiding transparency will only erode the trust that we have in our officials and our governing systems.

Private citizens have private voting to protect their rights.

Elected officials are entitled to private opinions as well. But when it comes to formal decisions and official government business, those officials vote publicly. And THAT is to protect our rights, too. Our right is to know and trust that our interests are being upheld and served by our representatives. If those representatives fail to keep that trust, we also have the RIGHT to follow the precepts of the law to remove those officials from office.

Our post "Why Accurate Minutes Matter" reflected on the necessity of transparency in the minutes, but we want to give you more food for thought.

Notice something: the Minutes don't match the Recording. If we cannot trust our elected officials to ensure that the records match reality, can we actually trust them, period? Are we not entitled, at that point, to consider and question what possible motives might encourage that sort of "amendment of the record"?

DeShano made the motion, Whalen seconded it, but then there was dis...

Public Comments DO deserve their place in the record. Your voice should matter to the ones you elected.

If you aren't aware already, every Board Meeting is available on YouTube for your scrutiny, even if you were unable to attend. You have the right to know what's going on in your township, and to hold your elected leaders accountable if they have failed to uphold their duties.

IMO, these are some of the notable public comments. Notice the dif...
