It's National Dog Day! Let's talk emergency plans for your pup.

Did you know disaster survival rates for pets often come down to how prepared their people are? If an emergency ever forces you to evacuate, your dog needs a plan too.

Here's what to pack in a pet emergency kit:

🐕 Food, water & bowls (few days' worth)
🐕 Medications & vaccination records
🐕 ID tags + microchip info
🐕 A leash, crate, or carrier
🐕 A comfort item (because stress is real for them too)
🐕 A recent photo of you together, in case you're separated

Not all emergency shelters accept pets, so it's worth researching pet-friendly shelters or boarding options near you before you need them. Your vet is a great resource for this. Give your dog an extra treat today, then take 10 minutes to build (or check) their go-bag.

Cooler temperatures can actually be ideal for several vegetables. If you’re planting in late August or early September, consider fast-growing, cool-season crops like radishes, spinach, kale, turnips, and Swiss chard.

Keep in mind that planting dates vary across Utah due to differences in elevation, climate, and first-frost dates. Choose fast-maturing varieties and check your local first-frost date before planting. Crops planted this late may also need some protection if temperatures drop quickly.

A little planning now can mean fresh vegetables from your garden well into fall!

Japanese Walking, or Interval Walking Training (IWT), is a simple, effective routine consisting of 3 minutes of brisk walking followed by 3 minutes of slow walking, repeated for about 30 minutes, multiple times a week. This method enhances cardiovascular health, builds strength, aids in weight management, improves blood sugar control, and boosts mental well-being. It’s accessible for all ages and fitness levels, requires no special equipment, and offers a sustainable, low-impact alternative to your personal daily step goal.
