Our detectives recently attended the Utah ICAC Bootstrap Academy this week led by instructors from the Office of the Utah Attorney General. This training is a three-day program built to provide new Internet Crimes Against Children task force members with the skills to investigate CyberTipline reports from the ground up.

Investigating crimes against children is some of the toughest work in law enforcement. The more people we train to do it well, the more cases we can take on and the more kids we can protect.

The Davis County Sheriff’s Office and Kaysville Police Department are aware of social media posts circulating that encourage juveniles to gather at a local Kaysville grocery store, bring fireworks inside, and then proceed to a nearby park.

We’ve recently responded to several of these large gatherings involving juveniles. We want to remind the community that behavior that creates safety risks, damages property, disrupts businesses, or places others at risk will not be tolerated. Additional law enforcement presence will be in the area, and enforcement action will be taken when appropriate.

Parents, please know where your children are, who they are with, and what their plans are for this weekend. We’ve recently had several cases that have caused disruption, property damage and safety risks due to these gatherings. A quick conversation can go a long way.

Our priority is keeping our community safe while ensuring everyone can enjoy the weekend responsibly.
