Another stolen vehicle recovered and another repeat offender is back in custody.

Last week, our officers arrested a convicted car thief who was once again found in possession of a stolen vehicle in Kearney. Through the work of our Detectives, the 54-year-old male from Houston, Texas was identified and charged by the Clay County, Mo. Prosecutor's Office with Felony Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree. Bond was set at $50,000.

Some people just can’t stop collecting cars that don’t belong to them.

Turns out that driving around with fake plates, warrants, and drugs is a great way to meet our police officers.

Today, our patrol officers stopped a vehicle near S. Prospect Street after observing switched license plates displayed on the vehicle. During the investigation, officers discovered the passenger had multiple active warrants for her arrest through the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County.

Inside the vehicle, officers also located packaged methamphetamine, smoking pipes, needles, and other drug paraphernalia. The 30-year-old passenger from Kansas City was booked into jail on her outstanding warrants, while the 38-year-old driver from Kansas City was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Now responding to emergencies with a little extra “doctor stuff.”

We are excited to share that this year we were able to equip every patrol vehicle with a new Life Saving Medical Supply Kit to better serve and protect our community.

These kits contain critical emergency medical supplies including tourniquets, Narcan spray, CPR face shields, QuikClot gauze, elastic bandages, burn gel dressings, EMS shears, emergency blankets, and much more.

Every patrol officer and School Resource Officer will now be better prepared to provide immediate medical assistance during emergencies until fire and EMS personnel can arrive on scene. In many situations, those first few moments can make all the difference.

We are proud to continue investing in the safety of our officers, schools and the community we serve.
