Happy Retirement Week, Chief Thomas!
After 44 years in law enforcement, Chief Mark Thomas is finally hanging up the badge this Thursday, September 3rd!
Chief Thomas began his career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, where he served nearly 28 years and retired as a Sergeant. He then spent another 10 years as a detective with both the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff and Platte County Missouri Sheriff's Office, followed by several years as a Special Investigator with the Missouri Department of Labor.
And, of course, he eventually found his way home to the Kearney Police Department, where he has served as our Chief of Police. A city he and his family have called home for the last 36 years.
We are incredibly grateful for Chief Thomas’s decades of leadership, dedication, and service to the citizens of Kearney and communities across the state of Missouri.
For those who know Chief Thomas, you know retirement won’t exactly mean sitting around doing nothing. We’re sure he’ll be spending plenty of well deserved time with his wonderful wife Jeannie, his daughters and grandchildren, along with traveling, riding motorcycles, and doing as much fishing as humanly possible.
Thank you, Chief, for 44 years of service, leadership, and dedication to the entire state of Missouri and, very specially, to our little town of Kearney.
