Roots That Run Deep 🌱
Help us celebrate a true community original: Reeve Chidester turns 100! 🎂 🥳

A Navy Veteran and retired Western Airlines manager, Reeve and his wife, Rocena, were there at the very beginning. They purchased their home brand new when our was first being formed, and he has been the heart of the neighborhood ever since.

Decades later, you can still find Reeve enjoying the fresh air and visiting with neighbors. He’s seen our streets grow from the ground up, proving that while houses are built of wood and brick, a community is built by the people who stay.

Happy 100th Birthday, Reeve! Next time you see him out for a stroll, be sure to wish him a great one! 🎖️🎈

A Giant Day🏈 for Kearns! 💚⛰️

Kearns has something big to celebrate! In the 2026 NFL Draft, linebacker Jack Kelly, a proud product of Kearns High School - Official, was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round (No. 193 overall).

After standout careers at BYU 🐾 and Weber State University 🟣, Kelly wrapped up his college journey with 15 sacks and earned All-Big 12 First Team honors in 2025.

From to the NFL 🏈—what an incredible accomplishment!

🏛️ Kearns City Council Recap | April 13, 2026 📢

🚒 Fire Safety Update - Unified Fire Authority Chief Tyler Lintz walked us through the proposed 2026 fire restriction map—getting ahead of wildfire season and keeping Kearns safe.

👮 Public Safety Budget - Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake Chief Levi Hughes presented the 2026–27 budget—planning ahead to keep our community protected.

♻️ Community Updates -We heard updates from Kearns Improvement District (KID) and Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District (WFWRD).

🤝 Community Spotlight - The MyKearns Community Coalition shared the great work they’re doing right here in Kearns.

🏡 Ordinance Approved: Side Yard Setbacks - Changes approved for certain single-family residential zones.

🎉 Kearns Community Committee (KCC) Update -The Council approved officially establishing the committee to plan and run Kearns’ annual civic events.

💡 C-PACE Program Approved - Property owners now have the opportunity to participate in this program for energy efficiency improvements.

🚧 4865 South Waterline Project – Progress Update! 💧

We’re making great progress on the 4865 South Waterline Project and wanted to share the latest with our community:
✅ By the end of today, we anticipate installing 955 feet of new 12” PVC waterline within the project area
✅ 4420 W was successfully paved last Tuesday following soil compaction testing
🔧 Crews are working to extend the 12” waterline to 4180 West by the end of next week

🔄 What’s next:
• Returning to 4380 W, 4340 W, & 4300 W to install 8” waterlines
• Connecting new lines to the existing system after pressure and bacteriological (bac-t) testing is completed and passed
• Final asphalt restoration will take place once all waterline installation is complete

📅 Projected completion remains early July
