💧🌎 World Water Week 2026 | August 23–29 🌎💧

Every drop counts, and every action makes a difference! During World Water Week 2026, we're celebrating the simple choices that help protect one of our most valuable resources—water.

This year's featured artwork is "Bathroom Water Conservation" by Rose Tam, our 2026 Water Conservation Art Contest – Jr. High Category Winner. Rose's creative 3D display reminds us that small actions at home can have a big impact, including:
🚿 Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.
🚰 Fix leaks—no drips allowed!
🚽 Use water wisely every day.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and made our first-ever Running Toilet 5K & Leak Detective Kids Fun Run, the Kearns Hometown Parade, and Kearns Hometown Night such an amazing success!

We kicked off the morning bright and early at 7:00 AM with an incredible turnout for our 5K and Kids Fun Run. Seeing so many smiles, laughter, and families enjoying the event made all the hard work worthwhile. A huge thank you to our amazing sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who participated. Together, we had fun while spreading an important message—every drop counts, so don't forget to conserve water! 💦

Next came the excitement of the Kearns Hometown Parade, where we proudly celebrated our 2026 Water Conservation Art Contest Winners, shared the news of Kearns Improvement District's AWWA Public Communications Achievement Award, and reminded our community of simple ways to save water. Even with the summer heat, we were proud to showcase our commitment to providing safe, reliable drinking water every day.

We wrapped up the evening at Kearns Hometown Night, visiting with community members at our booth and showing off our parade float. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day filled with community spirit, education, and fun.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated, sponsored, cheered us on, and stopped by to say hello. Days like these remind us why we do what we do.

Construction & School Safety Notice – Sam’s Boulevard Water Line Project

Kearns Improvement District is continuing construction of important water system improvements along Sam’s Boulevard near Kearns Jr. High School and West Kearns Elementary School. With school beginning and students returning to the area, we want to remind everyone that safety is our highest priority.

Construction activities may temporarily affect school crossings, sidewalks, traffic lanes, and pedestrian routes along Sam’s Boulevard. Crews are working to maintain safe access through the construction area and to restore school crossings as quickly as possible.

Please help us keep students, families, construction crews, and motorists safe:
• Slow down and use extra caution when traveling through the construction zone.
• Watch carefully for students and pedestrians, especially before and after school.
• Follow construction signs, cones, barricades, flaggers, and temporary traffic controls.
• Use designated school crossings and pedestrian routes and avoid entering active construction areas.
• Allow a little extra travel time during school drop-off and pickup periods.
• Please remind children to stay on designated walking routes and never cross through construction equipment or work areas.

These improvements include installation of a new 12-inch water main and additional fire hydrants along Sam’s Boulevard. The project will improve fire protection, water system reliability, and emergency response capabilities for Kearns Jr. High School, West Kearns Elementary and the surrounding community.

We understand that construction can create temporary inconvenience, particularly as the school year begins. Kearns Improvement District and our contractor are working to minimize disruptions and maintain safe access while completing these important improvements.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and extra attention while traveling through the area. Together, we can help make sure students get to and from school safely while we complete these improvements to our community’s water system.
