🦃🔥 Thanksgiving Fire Safety Reminder! 🔥🦃

As you prep for a day of food and family, remember that Thanksgiving is one of the biggest days of the year for cooking fires. A few quick tips can keep your home safe:

In the Kitchen 🍽️ :
• Stay in the kitchen while cooking. Unattended cooking is a leading cause of home fires.
• Keep kids & pets 3 feet away from hot surfaces.
• Keep towels, packaging, and anything that can burn away from the stove.
• Test your smoke detectors before you start cooking.

Deep-Frying a Turkey? 🦃
• Only fry outside, far from your home.
• Make sure the turkey is completely thawed and dry.
• Lower it slowly; use the right amount of oil.
• Keep children and pets away from the fryer.
• Never use water on an oil fire.

If a fire starts🔥:
• For a stove.. cover the pan/pot with a lid and turn off the burner.
• For an Oven.. close the oven and turn off the burner.
• Get out and call 911.

Be safe and have a good holiday everyone!

As the temps drop and the furnace kicks in, make sure you have working CO detector in your home.
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless and invisible gas that can be deadly.

It has been 10 years since our brother Deputy Chief Thomas T.K. Kolarick died in the Line of Duty.
His experience, mentorship and friendship is missed daily by our members.
Today, and every day, we remember him and think of the family he left behind.

We imagine these two pieces were reminiscing about old war stories from "back in the day when we were on the job".

We imagine these two pieces were reminiscing about old war stories from "back in the day when we were on the job".

These two old friends got to see each-other after 25 years apart. Keasbey “Protection Fire Company” Ladder 424 and South Amboy”Protection Engine Company Engine 506. These two trucks were once together and were on Perth Amboy’s Second Alarm run card. “More picture to come of the two of them together at fires.”
