City of Kechi

City of Kechi Kechi: Creative. Connected. Pleasantly Unexpected. This is a rapidly-growing community of more than 2000 residents, located to the north of Wichita, Kansas.

Access into Kechi can be from Highways 254 and 135, both of which are 4-lane expressways. Kechi residents enjoy the quiet and safety of a small city while being only minutes away from metropolitan services, shopping and entertainment. Both new residents and businesses are welcomed. There are several new housing additions and commercially zoned areas for economic development. If you are looking to

relocate your family or business, consider the benefits of becoming part of this great community. If you are already a Kechi resident, your active involvement is encouraged and needed. Opportunities include serving as an elected official or member of one of the boards/groups that meet on a regular basis. An example of a shorter-term commitment would be to assist with the annual Kechi Fair. Resident input/involvement is welcomed and appreciated! City council meetings (2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month), we encourage residents to come and meet their city council members.

Water Rate Increase – Beginning April 2026 Billing (March Usage)

The City of Wichita has increased the wholesale rate Kechi pays for water. Since we purchase our water from Wichita, this change affects our local rates.

• Current wholesale rate: $5.52 per 1,000 gallons
• New wholesale rate: $6.00 per 1,000 gallons
• Increase: $0.48 per 1,000 gallons

Under City Ordinance 25-786, wholesale increases are applied across our rate tiers. The updated rates will show up starting with April 2026 water bills.

For most households using around 5,000 gallons per month, this works out to about $2.40 more per month.

We know no one likes rate increases. This change simply reflects the higher cost charged to the City and allows us to continue providing dependable water service to our community.

Please see the attached graphic for the full rate schedule.
If you have questions, feel free to contact City Hall.
