A wonderful nurse from Huguley hospital came down to the station and brought us some flowers. She wanted a photo of us receiving and naturally Sgt. C. Rodriguez wanted to take a photo in special fashion.

Here is the picture of him presenting the flowers to one of our newest officers, Officer C. Hunt. 😄💐

The Keene Police Department has received several calls in the past three weeks about raccoons acting odd in the daylight hours.

We have been in contact with Game Wardens from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Division and confirmed the cases are Distemper. Distemper can be transferred to dogs, cats, and possibly humans. We would like to remind everyone to make sure that your animals are up to date on their shots.

Please call us and do not approach these animals, especially if they are acting strange.

Chief Brad Hunt is a 25-year veteran of the Temple Police Department where he served as the Division Commander over Special Operations, which included Community Police, Traffic, School Resource, Violent Crimes, SWAT, Hostage Negotiators, and Honor Guard.

Chief Hunt was the Program Manager for the Department’s successful endeavor to attain Recognized status in the Texas Police Chief’s Association Best Practices Program in 2019. He is an experienced supervisor with extensive fieldwork and communication-oriented assignments.

Chief Hunt has been active in many units and functions at the Temple Police Department including Administration, Investigations, K-9, Patrol, and Animal Services, to name a few. He also was the first full-time Public Information Officer for Temple PD and charted the course for that function. As a result he has a great deal of experience in dealing with the media and being on camera.

Chief Hunt has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology, from Stephen F. Austin State University and instructed at the Basic Police Academy at Central Texas College and Temple College from 1999 to 2012. He graduated from Session 269 of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in 2017.

Chief Hunt continually seeks opportunities to teach others and interact with members of the community, intending to improve and sustain positive relations with community stakeholders, citizens, leaders, the media and regional law enforcement members.

Chief Hunt is blessed with children ages 1 to 21 and spends his free time coaching youth sports, mentoring area youth, supporting Special Olympics, and relaxing with his family.

UPDATE-"BIRDIE" HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
The Rottweiler mix that was running loose on Old Betsy has been fully vetted and spayed and is ready to find her forever family. If you are interested in adopting “Birdie” please come to the Keene Police Department (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, closed for lunch 12pm-1pm) to fill out an adoption application. Her adoption fee is $110.

She is estimated to be about one year old and has been with a foster for approximately 10 days. The foster said “Birdie” is good with other dogs, playful, and has not shown any aggression. She has not chewed anything and appears to be housebroken, as she keeps a clean kennel. “Birdie” can be shy until she gets to know you, then she turns into a wiggle-butt.

Her adopter will need to have patience when teaching her to walk with a leash and slowly introduce her to riding in a vehicle. She has not been exposed to young children while in the foster’s care, therefore we do not know how she would react. You may contact Animal Control to set up a meet and greet.

As a friendly reminder from your Keene Police Department, to be extra cautious in the morning as kids are heading back to school. Be on the lookout for kids walking in the streets and riding their new bikes. And remember, when entering a school zone, be sure to slow down, stay off your wireless devices, and obey all traffic laws. Drive smart so our kids stay safe!

2 KPD young officers were interacting with folks picking up kids, great grand, stopped, said is something wrong, not sure of his exact words, they came to visit, just to say hello, I hope it happens often, don't forget our female officer, girls need to know law enforcement is for both genders, Great job fellows glad to see the interaction with community, we support you when we see you as part of our community.
have taken children to elementary/jr high this week, first time in 2 yrs. 1. Kids riding bikes in the dark, with no reflectors, no headlights in the middle of the street, accidents waiting to happen. When could officers do some bike/walking safety at the especially elementary school?? Perhaps instead of backback you could get funds for reflectors/headlights, have kids bring bikes to police department to install, education just a thought 😞😞😔
Still waiting to see which of our finest takes the "Git Up" Challenge.
Where are you at Chief? The Big Tex, your favorite, is on special today!! 😂😂😂😂
Cleburne Police department writes grants to pay for sending prospective officers to school who is writting the grants for Keene??
To the officer that was parked at the shop right beside the Keene city hall: I drove by and saw that you looked tired (your hand was to your face and rubbing your eyes) and God laid it on my heart to turn back around & go to the sonic and buy you lunch/breakfast. YOU ARENT AT THAT SPOT ANYMORE!!!! I had a hot coffee and croissant meal & a Bahamas bucks card all ready for you! I wanted that officer to know & to know that I appreciate everything that our peace makers do for us. God bless y'all❤️
Happy National Police Week! Thank you, Keene PD, (officers and dispatchers), for all you do to keep our streets safe. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to the job, not just during this week, but all the weeks of the year! Your service is very much valued!
Hi, I wanted to set up a charity offer for the department. I run an online store and can definitely help the department.
I want to thank the 4 police officers that came out and worked for an hour trying to get the 2 skunks trapped in our basement window area... they tried tlso hard to free them. AND WE THANK YOU
