What a great day of organizing for Cheshire County Democrats! Democrats in the two neighboring towns of Marlow and Sullivan gathered in a house party hosted by Peter Vogel (Sullivan resident, and part of Keene Rally coalition. Candidates Lucius Parshall (CH16), Christine Parshall (CH08), and Jim Gruber (CH09) spoke to the gathered citizens from two towns. With community engagement across the County, we win State Rep elections and help us gain majority at the state house. With Marlow and Sullivan getting organized, Cheshire is now 100% organized in all towns - a dream come true. Thanks to all who worked relentlessly to organize this event, including Nick Patrick, Frank Hunter, and Jane Thickstun. We canvassed, phonebanked, and text messaged, just to find these willing souls, and plan the seed for organizing.

It took us 5 years and 4 months, but we got all 9 towns that did not have organized Democrats back in 2021, organized. One of the most challenging and rewarding experience. Along the way we have built many friendship and a stronger community. Very grateful indeed. Remembering the shining star of our community Susan Hay - who worked as hard as possible with all of us.

The event will help us mobilize a team of Volunteers for Marlow, which is part of CH09. Sullivan is not part of Ch09, but the Dems in Sullivan are organizing to support Jim Gruber’s campaign, to get rid of the current GOP State Rep who votes with the extreme MAGA elements. The Cheshire County Democratic Committee is jump-starting the Fitzwilliam area for the upcoming election. We have a meeting coming up on Tuesday, July 21st, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at the Fitzwilliam Town Library to discuss upcoming actions and to meet the candidates for the area.

Our first phone banking to recruit volunteers started in CCD office today. We are also starting to canvass on Saturday in Jaffrey. Please sign up at CheshireDemocrats Dot Org and choose a shift of phone banking or canvassing that fits your schedule. Or send us a note if you want to help some other way. Reach out to your town committees to help with leafleting or other initiatives. Democrats are working hard to paint all towns blue.

CCD is proud to participate in the Monadnock 250 Parade. The theme of our float was 'Liberty and Justice for All'. Bobby Williams conceived of the theme and organized the effort, with help from Samantha Jean Jacobs, Nick Germana, Lucius Parshall, Jim GruberKristen Petricola, and Bob McKelvy. Helen Fields and Kayli Lod were exceptional in their roles as Lady Liberty and Lady Justice. Thanks to all who walked with us behind the float and carried the banner.

We are very thankful to the enthusiastic crowd who cheered us from both sides of the street.

On this special day of celebration of our Independence Day, we renewed our resolution to fight for Democracy, with our collective activism; with one conversation at a time with our friends and neighbors. We dedicate this effort to our beloved community organizer Susan Hay. Her memory continues to inspire us every day.

Please join our volunteers in doing outreach to the whole community in various forms of engagement. If there are ideas you want to explore, please reach out to us.
