This past week officers from the Keene Police Department along with members from the Cheshire County Sheriff's Office, New Hampshire State Police, Chesterfield, Swanzey, Marlborough, Troy, Harrisville, Wi******er. Jaffrey and Dublin Police Departments ran from Wi******er to Keene for the Special Olympics Torch Run.
Keene Police Department Officer Josh English ran the entire leg of this race as he has done for several years.

Officer Michael O'Donnell & K9 Blanca recognized in Canine Courier Magazine, Region 9, (Summer 2026)

Keene Police Department, NH

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 1913 hours, Keene Police Officers responded to 117 Main Street for the report of a disturbance, which resulted in one male pulling a knife on another. Responding officers quickly identified a suspect and began searching the area.

Officer Benjamin Wood located a male on the bike path between Island Street and Pearl Street who matched the suspect's description. The subject on the bike path was then identified as the suspect in a criminal threat.

The suspect ultimately began to physically resist arrest and was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle. However, during the search of the suspect and his backpack incident to arrest, a knife was not located.

Officer O’Donnell and K9 Blanca were contacted off duty and were requested to respond to the area of the bike path where the suspect had been apprehended to conduct an article search.
K9 Blanca began working the area of the bike path, which was approximately 25 yards by 15 yards. K9 Blanca worked down the south side of the trail, crossed a foot bridge, and initially indicated on a quarter in the area where the suspect had been apprehended. She then crossed to the north side of the bike path and began working east. K9 Blanca again crossed the foot bridge and worked off trail into the bush, where she then indicated on a knife in a black sheath consistent with the knife described by the victim. The knife was secured as evidence.

The suspect was charged with Resisting Arrest/Detention, Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon, due to placing the individual in fear of his life, Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, because of the manner in which the knife was used/ displayed, Possession of Controlled Drugs x2, Possession of Prescription Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Falsifying Physical Evidence.

PRESS RELEASE
Keene, NH, May, 20th, 2026

On the evening of May 19th, 2026, at approximately 2322hrs, Keene Police responded to the Monadnock Marketplace plaza located on Ash Brook Rd for a report of a Criminal Threatening incident involving a firearm. The responding officers quickly located the suspect in a vehicle and attempted a motor vehicle stop.

The suspect failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit that ended on West Street in the parking lot of Mascoma Bank when the suspect’s vehicle became disabled due to striking raised curbing. The suspect then fled on foot. While officers were searching the area for the suspect a call came into Keene Police Dispatch reporting that someone with a gun was trying to break into the caller’s residence at an apartment on Elm Street. Upon officers’ arrival at Elm Street, the suspect was confirmed to be the same person involved in the Monadnock Marketplace incident and subsequent motor vehicle pursuit.

Officers immediately responded to that location and arrested 36-year-old Robie Fish, of Keene, NH, for the offenses of Criminal Threatening w/ Firearm, Reckless Conduct – Deadly Weapon (x2), Felon in Possession of Dangerous Weapon, Burglary, Possession of Controlled Drug, Disobeying an Officer, Conduct after an Accident and Resisting Arrest or Detention.

He was subsequently held at the Cheshire County House of Corrections pending an arraignment in the 8th Circuit Court-Keene on 05/20/2026 at 1300hrs.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be forthcoming.

The Keene Police were assisted by the Cheshire County Sherriff K9-Unit, NH State Police, Swanzey Police and Chesterfield Police.

PRESS RELEASE
Keene, NH, 05/19/2026:

On Tuesday, 05/19/2026, at approximately 1109 hrs, Keene Police responded to the parking lot at 333 Wi******er St in Keene (Chipotle), for a serious motor vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as Pamela Savard, age 78, of Keene, NH sustained fatal injuries during this collision. The commercial motor vehicle was a Kenworth refuse recycling truck operated by Agri-Cycle Energy of South Portland, ME and driven by Robert Armstrong, age 58, of North Hartland, VT.

To facilitate the investigation, a portion of Ivy Drive and the Chipotle parking lot was closed for approximately 3.5 hours. Preliminary investigation indicates that Savard was walking behind the truck, which was backing into the parking lot, when she was struck. The details and circumstances of this collision are still under investigation.

The Keene Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Keene Fire Department and New Hampshire State Police Troop G. This incident is being investigated by the Keene Police Department Collision Analysis Team. Anyone who has information about this collision is asked to

At approximately 0712 AM, the Marlborough Police Department responded to a serious two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Route 12 at Webb Depot Road. Although the crash involved a school bus the injuries sustained by the students on board are believed to be relatively minor in nature. Route 12 will be closed while the NH State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction team investigates the incident.
Please plan alternate travel routes. The bus was enroute to Monadnock Regional High School so any concerned family members should contact the school district directly.

The Keene Police Department has the following update for the previous press release issued on 04/20/2026: Through the work of the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the skeletal remains recovered on 04/17/2026 have been identified as Brenda Kenney, age 48 (at death). Kenney had been reported as a missing person to the Keene Police Department in July 2022. The cause and manner of Kenney’s death, while not considered suspicious at this time, is still pending studies by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Keene Police Department appreciates the extensive assistance provided by New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers, New Hampshire State Police, New England K-9 Search and Rescue Team, and the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team.

On Friday, 04/17/2026, the Keene Police Department responded to the area of the American Legion on Court St for a report of human remains that had been located. Detectives recovered what appears to be human skeletal remains. These potential remains have been secured and transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further studies and possible identification.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details can be provided at this time.

Visitors are welcome to observe the migration here. Please dress for the weather and bring a flashlight for every member of your group—cell phone flashlights are not bright enough.

Due to safety and parking concerns, only trained Salamander Crossing Brigade volunteers wearing proper safety gear should attend this location.

Every year, on the first warm, rainy nights of spring, thousands of frogs and salamanders migrate to their breeding wetlands in a phenomenon known as “Big Night.” Tonight may be one of those nights!

Amphibian migrations happen after dark during rainy weather. When North Lincoln Street is closed, a Harris Center naturalist will be on site from shortly after sunset until 10:00 PM—but only if it’s raining and wind conditions are safe.
