A 10,500-acre network of non-profit sanctuaries with more than 650 rescued Lions, Tigers Bears, Wolves and other large carnivores. Lions, Tigers, Bears, Wolves and other captive wildlife are rescued from illegal or abusive situations and then rehabilitated so they can then be released into large acreage natural habitats where they live, roam and play with others of their kind for the rest of their lives.

At 31 years young, Ricki has spent the last 11 years teaching us the true meaning of resilience.

In her previous life, Ricki knew only confinement, suffering, and imprisonment. But for the last decade, she has known something else entirely: the freedom to roam, the dignity of choice, and the peace of a life lived on her own terms. We are struck by how much of her story has changed because of the people who fought for her.

We often talk about the importance of our mission, but Ricki is the living embodiment of why we do this work and why speaking out against animal cruelty matters. She has taught us that while the past is something we cannot erase, it does not have to dictate the future.

We share her story not just to look back at what she has overcome, but to celebrate the profound impact she has had on all of us. Ricki has become the "golden girl" of our sanctuary, a quiet, majestic presence whose very existence is a testament to the power of compassion, love, and care.

We are so incredibly grateful for every moment we have been gifted with her presence. To all who have supported her journey and helped us ensure she spent these precious years in comfort and grace: thank you. You have given her a life that is entirely, beautifully her own.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the removal of the Run into the Wild Running Festival from our 2026 events lineup. We know this news will be met with surprise and disappointment, as thousands of you have made this event a cherished annual tradition.

Please know we did not reach this decision lightly. In the interest of full transparency, the economic landscape, including the lasting impacts of COVID-19 on resources, rising inflation, and tariff-related costs, has made this event increasingly challenging to produce.

While the Run has always held a special place in our hearts, it has become cost-prohibitive to the point where it unfortunately takes resources away from the rescued animals it is intended to support rather than contributing to their care.

We will truly miss the electric atmosphere of those June mornings and seeing all of your smiling faces at the starting line. While this chapter is closing for now, we cherish the history we’ve made together.

Important Note: If you have our 2026 calendar, please disregard the June 6th date listed for the Run.
