The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Office of Law Enforcement developed the "Target Illinois Poachers" program to encourage any concerned citizen who witness a conservation offense to report the violation.
Citizens who want to report violations can call the toll-free telephone number, 1-877-2DNRLAW (1-877-236-7529) or you can report the violation online.

Attention Youth Firearm Deer Hunt participants: Due to a programming error, Illinois Youth Firearm Deer Season permits sold between 08/03/2021 and 10/4/2021 have incorrect information regarding the 2021 season dates, indicating the season ends 10/11/2022. The correct season dates are 10/9/2021-10/11/2021. This error has been corrected. Youth permits purchased with the incorrect date remain valid for the 2021 Youth Firearm Deer Season, regardless of the printed end date. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please call Customer Support at 866-716-6550 with additional questions or concerns. Reminder: A hunter with an unfilled, valid Youth Firearm Deer Permit may also hunt during the first Firearm Deer Season 11/19/21-11/21/21

Youth Firearm Deer Hunting Season - October 9, 10, 11

Youth Firearm Deer Hunting is open at Big River SF only in the area SOUTH of CR 2650, aka Bald Bluff Road. Hunters must park in the designated parking lots. A Windshield Card is required for all hunters at Big River SF and available at www.dnr.illinois.gov. Maps are available in the log cabin information and check station located at the site office.
Equestrian Trails NORTH of Bald Bluff Road, including the Equestrian Campground, will be OPEN. Equestrian Trails within the designated hunting area will be CLOSED. Equestrian Trail maps are also available in the log cabin information and check station located at the site office.

Unfilled Youth Deer Permits are also valid on private land during the first Firearm Deer Season (November 19-21, 2021), but on public land they may only be used on sites that allow unrestricted hunting; unfilled permits are not valid on public land sites that limit the number of hunters during the firearm season via the use of a site permit quota.

DATES TO PURCHASE A PERMIT: August 3, 2021 - October 11, 2021: Purchase over the counter at a License Vendor only. Please note: Youth Firearm Deer Season permits cannot be replaced or purchased after October 11, 2021.

Youth Firearm Deer Hunting Season - Have a Safe Hunt.

The 2020 Youth Firearm Deer Hunting Season is Oct. 10, 11 and 12.
The Youth Firearm Deer Season is open to hunters who have not reached their 18th birthday prior to the opening date of the season.

Unfilled Youth Firearm Deer Permits are also valid on private land during the first Firearm Deer Season (Nov. 20-22, 2020), but on public land they may only be used on sites that allow unrestricted hunting to any hunter with a valid county permit.

Reminder to archery hunters you will need to wear blaze orange or pink during all Firearm season.

Dove hunting season opening day was a success!
September 2 through the 5th, the shooting times are 12-5pm with sign in and out at the check station (log cabin) at the site office.
Remember all hunters are required to have a windshield card, which is available online at
