🎆 REMEMBER FIREWORKS SAFETY ISN’T JUST A WARNING—IT’S REAL. 🎆

Every year, thousands of people are injured by fireworks, and children are among the most common victims.

Children under 15 account for approximately 35% to 40% of all fireworks-related injuries. Teenagers ages 15 to 19 have the highest injury rate, while children ages 5 to 9 have the second highest.

Unfortunately, this isn’t something that only happens somewhere else. We have a fireworks related call every year, last year, a young child in our area suffered a devastating fireworks injury that resulted in the loss of fingers. In a matter of seconds, a fun celebration turned into a life-changing event.

🚑 One moment of excitement can lead to a lifetime of consequences.

Before You Light That Fuse:

✅ Adult supervision is required.
✅ Keep children away from fireworks, including sparklers.
✅ Have a water hose and bucket nearby.
✅ Never relight a firework that fails to ignite.
✅ Keep spectators at a safe distance.
✅ Follow all local laws and burn restrictions.

Did You Know?

A sparkler can burn at temperatures exceeding 1,200°F to 2,000°F—hot enough to cause severe burns in seconds.

As firefighters, we’ve seen firsthand how quickly celebrations can turn into emergencies. We want everyone to enjoy the holiday and go home with all ten fingers, both eyes, arms, legs, toes and memories worth keeping.

“The safest fireworks are the ones that don’t send someone to the emergency room.”

🎇 Have fun. Celebrate responsibly. Protect your family.

‼️PARENT ALERT‼️

⚠️ HOT HOSE WATER SAFETY WARNING ⚠️

As temperatures rise, please remember that water sitting inside a garden hose can become dangerously hot when left in direct sunlight.

Water inside a hose can reach temperatures of 130°F to 140°F or higher. At these temperatures, severe burns can occur within seconds, especially to children and pets whose skin is more sensitive.

Before allowing children to play with a water hose or sprinkler:

✅ Turn the water on and let it run for several seconds before spraying anyone.
✅ Test the water temperature with your hand first.
✅ Never assume hose water is cool just because it comes from a water source underground.
✅ Check pet water hoses and outdoor bowls as well.

A few seconds of caution can prevent a painful injury.

Please help us keep our future firefighter’s, pets, and community safe this summer.

“Safety First, Every Day”

The Kellyville Fire Department would like to address something that has become increasingly common on some of our incident posts.

We share photos and videos to keep our community informed, educate the public, and highlight the work of our firefighters and emergency responders. Unfortunately, many of these posts are met with negative, judgmental, or disrespectful comments about the people involved.

We ask that everyone remember one important thing: emergencies can happen to anyone.

When we respond to a call, we often do not know all the circumstances. What may appear to be a simple mistake could involve panic, a medical emergency, mechanical failure, distraction, poor visibility, or factors that are not immediately obvious. None of us know the full story from a photo or a short video.

As firefighters, our mission is not to judge people on what may be the worst day of their lives. Our mission is to protect life, provide help, and serve our community with compassion and professionalism.

If only emergencies happened exclusively to perfect people, first responders wouldn’t have much to do. None of us are immune from making mistakes, and any one of us could find ourselves or a family member in need of help tomorrow.

We respectfully ask that when viewing photos and videos from emergency scenes, you refrain from posting negative or judgmental remarks. Constructive discussion is welcome, but personal attacks and insensitive comments are not.

The video we showed a few days ago of the last part of a water rescue… in this particular incident, we are simply thankful that everyone involved made it out safely. That is what matters most.

Thank you for your continued support of the Kellyville Fire Department and all emergency responders who work to keep our community safe.

Tonight, we would like to recognize and thank the dedicated members of the Kellyville Volunteer Fire Department for their outstanding service and commitment to our community.

The morning of June 6 2026 starting first call at 9:17 and last call finished at 14:16. Our firefighters responded to six turnpike collisions and one water rescue, answering the call whenever and wherever they were needed. These incidents required skill, teamwork, professionalism, and a willingness to put others before themselves.

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Your long hours, training, sacrifice, and dedication do not go unnoticed. Whether on the highway, at the water’s edge, or anywhere in between, you continue to represent Kellyville with courage and compassion.

Thank you for your service, your commitment, and for a job well done.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country and the freedoms we hold dear.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or a day off work. It is a day of honor, reflection, and gratitude for those who never made it home.

Their sacrifice gave us our today.

From all of us at Kellyville Fire, we remember the fallen heroes who stood with courage, served with honor, and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

May we never forget their bravery, their families, and the price of freedom.

Lord, watch over our community and those who serve it. Protect our firefighters and first responders as they protect others. Give them strength, wisdom, and safe passage home after every call. Unite our town with kindness, respect, and compassion for one another.
