Weather Alert: Flood Watch Extended

The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Watch for Southeast Texas through Thursday morning, with heavy rainfall possible through the end of the week.

Please stay weather aware, monitor trusted news and weather sources, and use caution when traveling. Roadways may become hazardous quickly, especially in low-lying or flood-prone areas.

Never drive through flooded streets.

Conditions will be somewhat favorable for the development of a brief tropical depression or tropical storm Wednesday-Thursday over the NW Gulf.

Regardless of development, the primary concern remains periods of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Though heavy rainfall is possible areawide (SE Texas), the highest risk of flash flooding over the next few days will be across our southern and coastal counties.

The Kemah Fire Department & Kemah Police Department are on the scene of a traffic collision on Highway 146 @ Marina Bay Drive.

Expect delays or consider avoiding the area if possible. The Kemah Police Department has tow trucks on the way to clear the roadway.

A line of showers and thunderstorms continues to move gradually inland this afternoon. Gusty winds and small hail are possible. Make sure to stay weather aware and drive safely in these rainy conditions!

Gas line break - active Mon 05/04/26 at 3:47 PM

Kemah FIre Department is on location of a natural gas leak on 6th Street @ Bradford.

Center Point Energy is on location with Dig Crews en route to make repairs.

Traffic will be shut down on Bradford Ave between 6th and 7th street.

No evacuations have been ordered by Centerpoint at this time and air monitoring is being actively conducted.

The Kemah Fire Department is on the location of a natural gas leak in the 1400 block of Bayshore. CenterPoint units have arrived, and crews are working to control the leak. The scene remains active; please avoid the area until the incident is mitigated.

Air monitoring is ongoing. As of 09:37 AM, no homes have been evacuated, and access to residences remains unaffected by the incident.

One lane is now open at this time.

The Kemah Fire Department and Kemah Police Department are on the scene of a major motor vehicle accident (MVA) on Highway 146 at SH-96.

Avoid the area and expect delays due to this incident, as well as ongoing traffic congestion caused by a previous motor vehicle accident on Highway 146 @ FM 646.
