We would like to remind you that, despite getting some rain this week in parts of the county, the Stage 1 fire restrictions are still in effect until rescinded by the Lincoln County Commissioners. Please read the resolution at the link below for details:

PSA:
Never fly a drone near an active wildfire. ALL drones (even that $50 tiny one from Walmart) are subject to FAA airspace regulations. It is your responsibility to know the laws and to know the conditions before you fly.

We’ve seen a significant increase in drone incursions over wildfires in the past month, with 50 drone incursions reported so far in 2026.

Keep your drone away from wildfires. Unauthorized drone flights can force firefighting aircraft to ground, delaying suppression efforts and increasing risk to firefighters and the public.

Flying a drone over or near a wildfire is illegal.

Hot and dry conditions return for one more day before a cooler and wetter pattern sets in for the rest of the week. Winds will not be as strong, and virga showers/dry thunderstorms will be confined to southern portions of the forecast area this afternoon.

EVENING.....RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM MDT TUESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS: Low Humidities...Hot Temperatures...Strong Gusty
Winds...and Dry Thunderstorms with gusty and erratic outflow
winds could cause erratic fire behavior.

* AFFECTED AREA:
In Southwest WY Fire Zone....279.
In West Central WY Fire Zone....278.

* COUNTIES AFFECTED:
In Southwest WY...Sweetwater.
In West Central WY...Lincoln...Sublette.

* WIND: West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* THUNDERSTORMS: Lightning and outflow wind gusts to 60 mph will be
possible through Monday afternoon.

* HUMIDITY: As low as 14 percent.

* TEMPERATURES: Highs in the middle 80s to near 90 degrees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are
either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong
winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

These might help things cool down a bit, but unfortunately won’t help with the fire risk yet.

Scattered virga (storms with no rain making it to the ground) showers are forecast across the southern half of Wyoming through 11PM tonight. Virga could produce gusty 40 to 55 mph outflows and lightning.

Take a look at the regional radar. Monsoonal moisture has begun moving northward, which is allowing some scattered virga showers to develop in southwest Wyoming this afternoon. Main threat with these virga showers will be gusty wind to 50 mph. The area under threat is inside the yellow outline on the image.
