By order of the Kaufman County Fire Marshal, the countywide burn ban has been rescinded effective immediately. Outdoor burning in accordance with standard regulations is now permitted. Please ensure that all fires are conducted safely, in accordance with state law, and that they are attended with a readily available water source until they have completely burned out. Must still call in and get permit to burn

Thank you city of kemp employee!

Thank you Justin and Aiden with Kemp Public Works. While working today in the ice, they noticed smoke coming from a barn off Elm Street. Both stopped and attempted to put it out but had to notify Kemp Fire Department because it had gotten too large. Due to their quick actions a much more dangerous situation was averted.

The SH 274 bridge at Kings Creek is a solid sheet of ice. We’ve had two accidents on it within the last few minutes. Please use caution if you are out. Early today the roads were in good shape but they are rapidly becoming hazardous. If you do not have to get out, please don’t.
