At its May 4, 2026 meeting, the NUD Board of Commissioners took several actions aimed at balancing affordability, reliability, and long-term sustainability for ratepayers such as:

* 0% increase to water rates, reflecting our commitment to stability wherever possible
* 5.65% increase to sewer rates, primarily driven by a 7.52% pass-through cost increase from King County, totaling approximately $8.75 to the typical bi-monthly bill
* Reduction in shut-off fees, recognizing that these charges have disproportionately impacted customers already facing financial challenges

These decisions reflect a careful balance between maintaining reliable service and prioritizing affordability. We understand that rate changes can be difficult, and we are committed to making thoughtful, equitable choices that
support our entire community.
